I'm stuck between these two knives. I can't decide which one, but I'm going to buy one of these. Advice/experiences with either would be appreciated.

i have/had both.
the 556 which i HAD is thicker and rough on pockets because of the texture on the handle, it also has a thumb ramp wich i personally don't care for because they hit me right in the middle of the thumb, it was 440c, not 154cm.
the 707 which i HAVE is thinner, smoother, no thumb ramp, 154cm.
for me the 707 is worth the extra $ simply a better knife. not saying the 556 is bad, just not for me. i would have to make some changes like NO thumb ramp for me to reconsider it again. by the way the 707 is my EDC, hope this helps, troy

707 is nicer, but the Mini-Grip is, well, grippier.
Both are good knives. I like the 707 more, and so did my wife(it's HER primary EDC now:D).

Unless you want to use this knife heavily in work or play, I'd get the 707. It's the more refined one of the two and it travels better.

I agree. This is a win/win situation. Both are great knives. The 707 is more classy than the Grip, but both are Winners.

I have both, the 707 and mini grip are pretty much the same, except the 707 has aluminum handles, a partial back spacer and no thumb ramp.

Both knives are winners in my book, thought the 707 feels smaller in hand, really a three finger knife.

I prefer the mini grip.

The 707 is a really nice knife, but I recommend that you hold both before buying. The 707 is comfortable, but it's not a full 4-finger grip; the handle is a bit short. The Grip gives you a 4-finger grip, but the jimping is useless, so I can't find a comfortable way to grip the knife.

I was thinking about the mini presidio, but the 440c steel isn't really what I want. The 154CM is much preferable.

I had both and as much as I wanted to like the 707, I sold it. The thumbstud on the 707 is too close to the handle for easy opening and the knife rides a bit high in the pocket. Odd as it may seem the 707 managed to give me a pretty decent bruise when my hand caught it while walking since it sticks out around 3/4ths of an inch.

I think too much is made of the mini-grip being a 3 finger knife. It's not uncomfortable to grip and your pinky falls into line with the rest of your fingers. Every knife has a different feel and a different way of opening. It boils down to muscle memory and adapting to the feel of the handle. After I got my mini-grip, I read the negative remarks about having a 3 finger grip and I put mine away for awhile. Then after I came to my senses, I realized it's a classic, little knife every enthusiast should experience. It's the classic pocket knife brought forward into modern times, IMHO. Cheers.

hmm Im going to have to disagree.

there are shorter knives out there that give you a full grip. plus one that is closer to the blade. both of which I greatly prefer. that being said, the mini grip isnt terrible.

alkaline if you arent set on an axis lock then I suggest the mini striker.
