How are you figuring there’s more 940-2001’s out there other than the 2000 they made and the prototypes? Got a couple family members that work for BM and the way they explained the limited unlimited is pretty transparent. They will keep making them for the year they are being sold in till people quit buying them. If they have some left over at the end of the year oh well..... do you expect them to destroy the excess? That would drive prices up.

How do I know that they only made 2000? And if they only made 2000 then why not number them? Now the 940-2002 is out as another "limited" but it's not numbered. The benefit to not numbering "limited" models is to make them less limited (sell more). And no, I don't expect them to destroy knifes. They can easily do a better job of forecasting. I suspect that Benchmade marketing will figure this out but, sadly, they don't comment here so it seems that this matter will go unanswered on this forum by Benchmade. Again, I'm quite sure that this is little more than rookie marketing. Not blue-chip.
