I was trying to sell my used Esee 4 with TKC scales, when 57frontier sent me a PM with a trade offer. He told me that he had a Spyderco Stretch in HAP40 that had been used to cut paper, but did not have any blade marks. I took him at his word and didn't ask any more questions. He told me he could ship the following day and I told him I would do the same. Well, I shipped the following day and he shipped 2 days after our initial conversation. Small problem, but still a problem. I let that go and chalked it up to things happening.

Then, the knife arrived. The first thing that caught my eye was the fact that he wrapped the knife in a piece of cardboard and then tapped the cardboard up. Even with cutting corners on the "box" he then cut another corner by shipping it first class mail with no insurance.

After I finished looking the package over, I opened the "box". The knife wasn't in a box, had an aftermarket clip, and the blade had marks on it. I imidieately sent him a PM. He responded with half hearted concern. We exchanged messages that day. Ultimately, I asked him for the box and the factory clip/screw (the aftermarket clip only used 2 screws). He said that he would send the clip and screw, but he wanted me to ship his clip back, at my expense. I told him that the knife did not live up to his description (look at his feedback, this has happened before) and that I was not going to pay for his error.

I have emailed and PM'd him for the past 5 days and he has not responded. I do NOT reccomend doing business with @57Frontier.

Did you check out his feedback before the deal? He has a negative for a similar issue from a sale four months ago.

EDIT: I missed in the OP that Alchemy1 was aware of the negative feedback.

Why didn't you ask for detailed pictures? Why didn't you look at his feedback before agreeing to trade with him? Since he initiated the trade why wouldn't you ask him to send first then you would send after you saw the item in person. All kinds of red flags on this deal and to tell you the truth they could have easily been avoided. Due diligence on your part could have saved you this hassle.
It is sad to say but I would bet you just got yourself a spyderco if I was a betting man I would say you won't get your knife back. Some things just need to be learned the hard way.

I did check his feedback. I referenced that in the OP. I come from another knife community where your word is your bond. I've seen people put up $1000's after someone, they don't even know, has lost their home due to a fire. I also, generally, like to believe that people are good. So, should I have asked more questions, possibly. I didn't because of the aforementioned reasons.

I am not sure how this became a referendum on me, but I was just trying to give this community a heads up, since I cannot leave feedback for him.

That wasn't me attacking you at all let's get that straight first. It was me pointing out the red flags of the trade a huge one being the bad feedback you chose to ignore. This all could have been avoided. As for him he's a lying thief if how you said it went down is how it went down.

Alchemy1 I did miss you making note of the Feedback issue in your OP, my post (now updated with that fact) was not intended to blame the victim just to point out 57Frontier has had a issue in the past.

@57Frontier should drop by and explain himself.

Respect . I totally agree. In the last messages I sent (PM and email) I pleaded with him to make this right before I posted feedback today. @57Frontier never responded to that either.

^ I for one, greatly appreciate, you sharing this information with the forum. The GBU, is a much better and more valuable place, than any feedback you could've left on his I-Trader. So, thank you!

As for this 2-time "not as described" offender: I think it's highly unlikely, that we'll ever be doing any type of dealings in the foreseeable future.

Although I'll still give him the benefit of the doubt to come on here and explain his side, to these allegations.

That was my exact intention. I would love to hear from @57Frontier. He's been tagged multiple times, so this thread shouldn't be a secret to him. I truly wish we could have resolved this amicably.
