6 Busses in 3 months

Welcome to the madness
Nice set of knives
I completely feel Your love for the BAD  it's an awesome little knive.

I'm interested in learning how to correctly strop to make an edge convex or to sharpen one. You said that you used .25 micron diamond spray from HandAmerican. Excuse my ignorance, is this spray that can be picked up at the hardware store. Is diamond spray more abrasive or is tis simply the name....really don't know any info would be good. Nice collection of knives and great work.

First off, no the Diamond spray stuff is only a HandAmerican product I believe.
At .25microns it is ultra fine for final polishing work. Next step up is the green aluminum oxide at .5 microns.

I started off with a slack belt on my belt grinder and then went to my Norton stones.. from 220 up to 8000 grit.
Then back to the belt grinder with leather belts, first with the green compound then on a second without compound..
Then to the hand strops. First with the horse leather strop with the green .5 micron then the brushed bull with the .25micron spray then finally back to my other horse leather with the spray.
I could potentially spend another hour on the hand strop but I lose patience after awhile...:p
This was the process and some of it was trial and error then back tracking a bit but in total I probably spent about 2 hours or so on it.
Plus I usually strop it every night as I use it at work most days.

FFBM is in the mail to ya!!
Have you made a leather sheath for your NMSFNO yet?
I have a white blade black mag one coming from the Busse shop and I need to start thinking about some pants for it! Let me know. Thanks again.

Happy Day!! I just snagged this off the Exchange. Thanks Adam! I guess that makes 7 Busses in 3 months!!

7 blades in 3 months????

i would call that a very nice start....

let's see, you already have the following:

NMFBM
NMSFNO
BATAC LE #757
BAD
CF Sarsquatch
Game Warden
FFBM

so there are a few more you need:

AK47 - zombie slayer extraordinaire

skinny ASH - most all-around useful busse you'll own

sabre ground SFNO - collector appeal, appreciation of value

CGASH - thick, stout piece of infi, the one blade to pack in a SHTF situation

FBMLE - the classic

NMFBMLE - the new classic, legend in the making

FSH - any configuration will do....i recommend the sabre ground HHFSH(heavy heart)

***2008 FBM SE*** - flat ground, .27" thick, sharpened swedge...kind of like fight club: those who own the 2008 FBM SE. never talk about the 2008 FBM SE.....the best config of the FBM out there.....thicker than the CG, but thinner than the FF.....the flat grind gives it the best edge geometry and balance of any FBM out there....funny thing is, no one talks about them......kind of hard to find.....

and those are the blades you NEED to round out your collection....please note that i have not even mentioned the old classic SH(straight handle) models.....there is a good reason for that....since i have never owned a SH model, i couldn't give an honest evaluation of one.....anything i say about them would be me talking out my ass......

anyways, very nice start...

Well to address a few of those that I "need" to round out the collection.

AK47 - I wish... just too expensive. I have been tempted to get rid of a few to go for one but which ones do I get rid of... you see my dilemma

FBMLE.. Defintely my grail at the moment so I "settled" for the poor man's version, the stripped FFBM that's in the mail.
NMFBM well if the FBMLE is out of reach this one is even further out there but damn I like it!

I figure the SarSquatch will cover the skinny ASH for now and frankly the ASH variants have never quite had the appeal of some others. My SHTF knife is the FFBM!

I love those SFNOLE's but not being a hog and not having $500 at them moment... Maybe another day.

The old models... well again... one can hope.

Thanks for the kind words about the meager collection I have so far.:D

I funded these by an almost complete sell off of the knives I had so it will be some time before I can add and more likely I will get rid of a couple to go for something I really want... well that's most everything..:p

Damn, your list of ones available for trade makes me drool.:)
