I have a c frame press built of the James Batson book (and I own the book and have read it to the point of complete confusion ) I have Google fu'ed it to death also.........so here is my question...... I have a 6" cylinder with a 2" shaft...which electric motor hydraulic pump combo to go with, 5 hp 3600 rpm with 13 gpm or 16 gpm 2 stage.......or 7.5 hp 3600 rpm with 16 gpm or 13 gpm 2 stage? All info I have come across refers to 5" cylinders and smaller. I would love to go 5 hp if it has enough oomph. .....but I only want to buy once and tomorrow is the day. All input is appreciated. Thanks for your time.

The 5HP should work.

According to Batson's charts ( page four and seven), the 6.0" cylinder can run at 2 IPS on a 16GPS pump. That is good.
The 5HP will run a 16GPM 2 stage pump at 3600RPM. That is good.
When the second stage cuts in the ram speed will still be about .5 IPS, and flow will drop to about 4 GPS as the pressure jumps up to 2500 PSI. That should deliver 35 tons of pressure. That is good.

So, a 5Hp 3600 motor coupled to a 16 GPH 2 stage 3600 RPM pump running a 6.0" cylinder should do it.
