6" Fixed Blade survival knife recommendations

For a camp knife and hiking, the BK15. That long sweeping trailing point is a slicing demon that is also robust enough to handle most bushcraft tasks. And, for the price, it cannot be beat.

For more bushcraft/survival capability, the BK10 and, better yet, the BK12 aka Doug Ritter Survival Knife RSK Mk2 Perseverance.

I love my BK2! It may not be everyone's favorite becker but I have done everything from chopping wooden fence posts to skinning a squirrel with mine.

I agree with this. It really is quite a useful general knife and I wouldn't be afraid to just have this one as my only woods knife. The only part is not the case, but I really like the BK-15 and it has nothing to do with the reduced prices that you can find these days because it is being discontinued.

For whatever reason, people have been gravitating toward the typical woods craft blade (kind of a spear point), the drop point, or bowie.

The BK15 is also quite good at the price point. The sheath is much better than other nylon BK sheaths.

Life is short get an ESEE 6 and be happy. It's only $20 more then what your spending.

I know you've already made your purchase, but here's another option for anyone else interested in the 6" @ $100 market:

Buck Hood Punk: 5.62" in 5160 steel, and removable micarta handles for under 100... Pretty good deal.

I've always wanted to try one of those or another in the Hood/Buck line but I can't get past the sheath. The Sheath and warranty on an Esee are worth the extra cost IMO.
