I've been battling with keeping this one for myself since I finished it, but the simple truth is I can't. I've ordered so many supplies recently that I just can't afford to. Alas! Always a knifemaker, and never a knife owner...:o

I was lucky enough to score a piece of this steel. You don't see it offered too much, anymore, and that's unfortunate. Crucible CPM-S60v is a great stainless steel, being one of the original particle metal alloys, and is a derivative of 440c, with a heap of additional vanadium. The PM process and the increase in vanadium makes for a pretty darn resilient steel that is also VERY stainless. It's original name was 440v, and was used for years by a lot of manufacturers. Takes a great, sharp edge and keeps it, too!

This blade is in .300" thick stock (THICK!!!!), with my beveled and hand polished spine, and black rayskin under the resin-soaked tsukaito wrap. I've left the mill scale finish on the flats because I appreciate the contrasting textures and finishes when used in combination. Just adds a bit of interest, I think.

I've added a layer of material under the rayskin that has a slight bit of 'give' to it and is gently contoured. It offers a more hand-filling and less 'barstock covered in wrap' feel, and I think it is going to become a standard part of this design. The ultrasuede-lined, mahogany-dyed, bison leather covered aluminum sheath makes this an easy carry piece, with a lot of versatility.

If this sells, I'll be sorry to see it go, but if it doesn't, I certainly won't mind keeping it!

Thanks for looking, gang.

beautiful Matthew but we are missing the humor in the post , what happened ? " chief executive of entertainment ":D

Thanks, guys!

Jack, I know it... I'm three days deep into hand sanding (!) a 13-1/2" wakizashi blade for Blade show in CPM4v, and my energy level is nonexistent.

NOTE TO OTHER MAKERS

DO NOT try to hand finish CPM4v.

If scoffs at abrasives. It also, apparently, scoffs at ME. :p

I can't capture the spine detail with my camera to save my life, so at the risk of being misleading, here is the spine shot that Coop took of one of my previous iterations of this style. THIS IMAGE IS NOT OF THIS KNIFE, but this detail is virtually identical:

Another nice one Matt. Haven't seen any 60V in quite a while.

Darrin, I know it, and I don't get it - it's a really nice steel! Crucible did a heat of it recently, and this is from that fresh batch. I think this stuff might make a pretty damn good chef knife...

Exceptional.....as always. [emoji106][emoji482][emoji631]

Aw come on now Matt, I hand rubbed a 4V Fighter the other day in just a few minutes. Nicest 36X finish I've ever done. LOL

That 60V Chef knife sounds interesting.

Sorry for cluttering up your sale thread.

Darrin, you are ALWAYS welcome in my sale threads, bud!!!

AND thanks Dudley!!!! ::)

Nice job Matt. Safe travels next week.
