600 series discussion

Love the 600 series. I’ve got the green handled 619, 620 and the 639. Pretty sure all the 639 models have the serrations and saw teeth except some customized versions that have been re-handled and the blades reworked.
Was not aware of the 620 other than black. Good to know. Another one to look for.
Near the end of production, 639's were made without the saw teeth as the tooling was wearing out.

I like the tacky feel especially when wet. I actually bought one of the saw tooth black handle versions simply because it looked like a 184. It had a BIN of $35.00 with free shipping. Had a shieth too lolol! It didn't take long to realize that was a real bargain but I sent it to a friend (BCCI member) along with a nice block of Ironwood for his son to play with.

Just a tidbit on the kraton handles. There is/was a late 90's era knife with that or a similar handle that never got a lot of attention but is a nice knife for hunting things. The 470 Mentor. Were in the $20 range back then. Some would take and profile that handle to their liking. Sorry for the drift,,,

I think that was one of the issues that led to the falling out between Buck and Qual-a-Tek who felt the 639 was a rip on their 184 design.
Can't remember the source of that, anyone else?

Since 2007 I have bought less than a dozen Buck fixed blades..My first was a 653 with a Tanto point. I wore at my second Blade Show. I called it my 'Ebay Trophy Buck' because I got it with a ratty shieth for around $6.00 shipped lolol! I tried very hard to sharpen it, especially the point, but gave up and the next year gave it to Joe for a Spa..
