Mine followed me home in 1968. Still in good condition. I have searched all threads but can not determine if I need to re-condition the poncho and if so, what product is available. All I've found refer to synthetic materials.

Yup, I have 2 of them complements of Dick Nixon.

Can't help you with your question, though.

Welcome home.

I use something called Camp Dry on my ponchos before going to the field and it works reasonably well. it sprays on and dries in about 20 minutes. There's also a wash in formula from Nikwax that I've heard people recommend but that I haven't used.

Yeah,let
s start with the bascis here, what fabric, and how worn? Does it seem to have any peeling on the underside? I've used NikWax, Camp Dry, and Tectron WPers; and they all work best with certain fabrics. Tectron's really durable and my go to waterproofer. You need a dry, windless day to spray it down, or a garge to hang it in and leave the door up until it dries.

It is the old rubberized version and has been in storage for a number of years. Seems to have held up well. I want to throw it in the boat for a crappie fishing trip to KY Lake later this month. I will have another rain suit available if needed.

I think the older rubberized versions were much better for making a hooch shelter. Larger but a little heavier. Can't help with what to use. Does it leak? You may not need anything on it.
