$650 folder suggestions for hard use work in the woods?

I really like the Benchmade 0275 manual folder. D2 steel; 0.160" thick blade, almost 4" long. 60-62 HRC; lanyard hole. Smiles at mud. Smooth operation; designed by custom knife maker Shane Sibert to honor our military heroes. 7.7 ounces, open construction. Very smooth, very tough knife. Impressive. Easy on your wallet at about $150.

Here ya go, a 600$ folder built tough enough to use and will still impress the ladies about town. It's the BM 710-141, happy hunting!

I really admire trail builders, many a good rides for my Trek and I because of y'all, and for that, I thank you

I see nothing wrong with your request and to be honest you should really just stop justifying your needs. No matter how well you explain yourself you'll always get the "get a fixed blade" response. There are backpackers, woodsman, and hunters that only carry folding knives. I frankly don't see what all the guff is about when you clearly state that any heavy use would be done with your other tools. Maybe reading comprehension really is in the gutter these days.
I agree with this. How long are you willing to wait, would be my first question. I would talk to Jay Fisher about a custom, he seriously knows knives. The Les George recommend is also a good one. The X-R3 from Extreme Addiction looks like a good fit for you desires as well.. https://www.extremaddiction.com/xr-3.html

Good luck in your search, let us know what you end up going with!!

OP get what you want.

For your price range and requirements I don't think you could do much better than a Begg Field Grade Bodega. Also for a beast knife (if you can find one) a Chaves Redencion

I'm looking for a folder. A fixed blade doesnt work for me. Too uncomfortable in some mounting positions with a pack on, or it flops around (if just attached via a belt loop in the sheath), or for iwb/scout carry, I get my underlayers soaked and covered in mud when i need to get to my knife when it's raining. If you guys have a better mounting method though I'm all ears, because I'd love to be able to just use a fixed blade. I just haven't been able to work it out for a comfortable carry method for myself.

For carrying a fixed in Your outside pocket, You use a pocket sheath for fixed blades.

This sheath gives You endless options to choose a 3-4" fixed blade.

For a robust stainless folder, have a look at the Fällkniven PXL.
Comes in either laminated powdersteel or lam. Cobaltsteel.

I had one for a couple of days, but it was too robust for my needs.
I already have a Hattori 1050 Folding Field for this kind of work and I decided to stay on that route.
But indeed the PXL seems to fit Your description.

Hey guys, recently scored a Hinderer from 50 sold at retail to civilians recently, but it just isn't for me. I'm selling it, and am trying to figure out what to get to replace it.. A little about me-I work for the Washington Conservation corps building trails in the mountains of Washington state for a living, I'm also in SAR and an avid backpacker and whitewater rafter. I'll be using this blade to cut a LOT of plant material- blackberry, holly, scotchbroom, hardwoods for making stakes (to use to reinforce waterbar drains on trail). I'll probably also be using it for various fire building work (nothing abusive there don't worry... I have ESEE's for that :). I live in the PNW, and its quite wet here most of the year, so a semi stainless or better would be nice, but if the knife has a sweeet carbon steel, I'm all ears. I also dig flippers, smooooooooth actions, and high fit and finish (or else I'd just be using a production) I also want something that is going to last long enough to hand down to grandchildren (and I'm 18 now).

CRK, Strider, and Hinderer are out.

Thanks a lot guys, I know it's a tall order, but I'm sure you guys can help me out!
Thanks in advance,
Ian
