Anybody tried this for guards/bolsters? Does it machine and polish well? I like the ideal of bronze accessories, but wonder if bearing bronze, which is used for that because it's porous to oil is suitable.

And if it works, anybody got any they wanna trade for/sell?

I have used a good bit of phosphorus (not sure of spelling) bronze, with good results. I kind of like the looks after it ages a little.

Hey T.M. Since you live in Alabama you ought to be able to find some in any marine
salvage area there and cheap. You can also get some of that navy metal alloy, it works good too, after you anneal it.

Jake,
I live in northeast Alabama, it's 325 miles to Mobile. It's funny that you would suggest marine salvage areas though. My oldest son has been in the US Coast Guard for 17 years and was stationed in Mobile and a friend of his who worked in a marine salvage yard swapped me a good bit of phosphorus bronze for a knife. I like the stuff.

A civilian friend of his worked in a family owned salvage business and traded me a good bit of phosphorus bronze for a custom knife. I like the stuff.
