After a long wait due to a lost package I finally received my piece of American black walnut and today I got started on the rehandle.
I don't have time to finish it right now but I'm off to a decent start.

I forgot to take a picture before reshaping the tang, but this'll give you a good idea of what they're originally shaped like.
You can see what I removed from the bottom to give me a much easier shape to work with.

The fit isn't perfect but I can fill that in when I get to the final glue up.

It won't be perfect but hopefully it's worthy of carry in a leather sheath by the time I'm done.

^lookin good there hickory. how much ya gonna keep shape and doing to it?

Just some final finishing work, then I've gotta make a sheath for it but I think the 10oz leather I've got might be too thick and will have to order some 8oz.
right on. doing well on it, Sir. looking forward to end results.

It looks good to me. Is there a belt loop or is it for pocket carry?

Silly laws getting in the way of good clean fun!

Here if I have a 110 in a sheath that opens the knife as it is drawn it is a felony. But I can carry a fixed blade with no length limit.

Same here with those quickdraw sheaths.
As a teenager I made one for a little $4 lockback I had, this was before I actually knew they were illegal.

It's funny that in the open position the buck 302 exceeds it by an inch, but my little queen #85 B&T can't legally be pocket carried.
I suppose I could pretend to open it like a slipjoint :D
