Some interesting stuff on the "Bowie" knife: Though the knife used in the Sandbar fight is believed to be a far thing from what a modern "Bowie" looks like, it seems that the clip point that has defined what a Bowie looks like today still traces its origins to the man himself.

This article was an interesting read - I had not read it before. (credit to Scott Hanson Scott Hanson for posting it with some of his most excellent work)
