7 day camping trip items...

I would second the book idea. I carry atlist one or books with me even when i go backpacking. For me a book is right up there behind water and shelter. Go to the thrift store and pick up a stainless pot for $5 or so. Use it over the fire and maybe a plate. Fork and spone you can figure out when you are out there. You can perfect it in the evening using the light from the fire. Busy mind is a happy mind and a happy mind keeps a happy body.

I think folks are getting hung up on the tent thing.. Brong one if you want if your comfortable without one than don't but so bring a tarp or a poncho because nothing is worse than realizing your shelter isn't water proof in the middle of a rainy night.... don't ask me how I know that....but that being said I haven't used a tent in the past 4 years, and I camp in every season.. I do however always bring a tarp or a poncho while providing water proof shelter, it still allows you to be interactive and connected to the environment around you..at least imho

For a week in the same spot I'd be digging in some sort of oven for baking and the like.

Big ball of hairy string works well for me. Often paracord is way in excess of what is needed. A good supply of string that you don't care about encourages you to cut it up and try making new stuff.

baldtaco...+1 on the string... a couple rolls of jute twine wiil cost you about 5 bucks and give you more than enoug stuff to work with.

if its during Bug season {Mozzies and in the Northeast Black flies} Head net and larger one to sit and sleep under and Bug juice will make your trip more bearable.

I have been going to this same spot for a few years and never see anyone there or any clues that anyone has been there such as trash.
Let your previous experiences at this location guide you

P.S. Don't forget the fishing tackle and a camera :D

Kind regards
Mick

A week in the same place, I would bring my crazy creek chair. Also, get one of those photon lights in red, green or blue and wear it around your neck at night. You will use that more than any other flashlight and it will protect your night vision. Save/use you bright white light for when you really need it.

I have been contacted and hope you have a great camping trip.

Whenever I pack for a backpacking tip, I start several days ahead of time and start piling stuff up in my living room. By the time I'm ready to go, I have ten tons of gear. I try to weed out the stuff I don't think I'll need, then I leave with only nine tons of stuff.

When I get home, I usually find I didn't use two-thirds of the stuff I brought.

The only thing I've ever come up short on was books. I camp solo in the fall during hunting season when it gets dark early, so reading material is a must for me. It sucks to finish a book in a couple of nights and then have nothing left to read.

I also bring a tiny portable radio on every trip.

I'm going to start making a list of the things I DO use every time, so I can come up with a good checklist. But that might take the fun out of packing....

Stay sharp,
desmobob
