7 Days from today.....Happy New Year!!!!!!!

Yvsa,

Congrats on the stop smoking achievement. I think quitting was probably one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life. In fact, a bout with Influenza A is what got me stopped. Something about laying in bed for a month feeling like crap just took the urge to smoke right out of me :) .

Your new year ceremony sounds good too. Hangin onto grudges just isn't good for the soul... it'll keep you warm in the winter, but eats you alive from inside out.

This next year contains no resolutions for me, as I intend to just live it one day at a time. I am hoping for a new job with the FAA, which might even get me out of my financial troubles with the studio. But it will also allow me to get back into law enforcement, something I miss.

May all the formites have a great end of the year celebration (and a safe one too). And again, may those in harms way know that our thoughts/wishes are with them.

Alan

I'm still not smoking and I doubt that I return to the habit anymore.
I was really ready this time I guess.:)
I have had only a few instances this time where I've had the desire to smoke, and they have been mild, very mild.
And I'm truly enjoying Not coughing that nasty stuff outta my lungs any more.:)
The decision to smoke or not smoke is very personal.
If I felt like the habit wasn't contributing to my health problems I would have probably never quit again.
I truly dearly love to smoke. It just got to the point where I finally am feeling better by not smokeing.

But the decision to quit smokeing is secondary to the ceremony that's gonna be here the 1st.
The petty dislikes and peeves along with the added on pure hatred and disgust we can feel for others eats at an individual's body just as bad as any tar and nicotine ever has, perhaps even worse in some cases.
At least they have been for me in the past. That's one reason why I say the old ways of my people have saved my life.:)

Spoken like a true Buddhist.

Just back from the day before New Year's Pow Wow at Schurz, Nevada. On the Walker River Indian Reservation, known for Wovoka, originator of the 1890's Ghost Dance ( his father had done the earlier 1870's Ghost Dance. So if you're out here and the ground starts shaking, grab onto a Sagebrush and hold on for dear life, cause it might be the white guys getting shook off.

Found out come August there will be the First Annual Dean Fox Pow Wow with a $2000 prize for the best Grass Dancer. Used to share an office with Dean, formerly the manager of his tribe's ( Mandan ) buffalo herd. At the time I was tribal compliance officer and we were both going for Substance Abuse Counselor credentials. He walked west 3 or 4 years back. The brotherhood was there between him and me, but not as strong as with Uncle and Yvsa and Gunmaker. Pleased me to see him honored.

Spent some time in regret I couldn't exact revenge, but I figure the 6+ months of hatred has poisoned me into losing 2 years of my life.

Perhaps we can get them back for you in the Lodge Bro. Nothing is ever lost forever in the teachings I subscribe too..........
I figure eternity is for regaining the things we miss while we are in our present forms.
And we need eternity because the things we miss while we're in our present are as countless as eternity itself so even in the end all things come out evenly with nothing further needed nor anything left behind.
Who knows from that point on, if indeed there is such a point?
As one angel said to another in telling a universal joke,
"If eternity were to end *When* would that be?"

I thought the joke hilarious the first time I heard it, some people need to think on it and then some people *never* get it.:)

Nor can it be explained.;)

I Also -

found out the hard way why I stopped going to powwows. I stopped and got a hundred from the bank on my way - figured it would last several days. Came back with $15 in my pocket cause I gave someone a check for $25.

Happy New Year - when it arrives. Money helps, but spiritual help and a constant desire to see things done in a good way is essential. And that includes family, friends, and brothers and sisters of the heart. May we all find them when needed.

And no paybacks, whatever the bastards try to do to me.

(Note that pre-emptive action is not payback / Rx = 158 grn Pb, delivered intercranially, prn. To put it another way an ounce of prevention ( the 12 ga. slug kind ) in the right place precludes any cure besides burial in this life. )

This is why the Buddhists believe you need 880,000 lives to get thru it all.
