7" Junglas

The Junglas is a large fixed blade knife in my opinion, some call it a machete.

If you think you might be interested in the Junglas, use one of our excellent dealers who has a good return policy and will let you return the unused knife. You'll only be out shipping if you don't like it.

That is the next step but I always want to learn as much as I can about a knife before buying it over the internet and I hate returning things.

Thanks,

A lot of people seem to have issues with the six's choil. I can't say it's a design element I look for. But in using the knife, I never notice it's there.

As for the size of the junglas, it's big. It's real big. But if you have the pack or belt room for it, it'll make you happy

On a more serious note, you could get in touch with one of the many custom makers here on the forums. I'm sure one of them could turn out exactly what you're lookin for.

you could go to the upcoming ESEEfest down by Houston in March and someone there will have one I'm sure you could try out.
If you live closer to Atlanta, Blade show is only 4 months away.
Another thought - if the Junglas is too long, you might look into a 7" Leuku (traditional Finn/Sami knife) It won't be covered by the ESEE warranty, but they're plenty sturdy, good slicers, and not too heavy.

Personally I like the choil. When I'm doing certain things with my 4 it just feels very natural to use it, and I even find myself choking up on my Izula sometimes.

I use my Junglas fairly often in clearing small saplings and it never fails to remind me of a small machete. The older RTAK II reminded me more of a large knife, but this piece gets down to business and is nearly as effortless as the ESEE light machete. I usually reserve the machete for thicker vegetation as it is definitely more efficient (meaning I can remove more debris per swing). Thing is, if I have to have anything longer than about six inches in my hand for clearing brush, it's going to be a machete and not a knife. The most used tools in my ESEE/RC arsenal would be the ESEE light machete and probably an ESEE-3 or 4. For my purposes, the tool has to match the task because in the end 'the juice has to be worth the squeeze'.

could you elaborate on ESEEfest, I didn't see anything on their site. I'm waiting on my Junglas now. Darn back orders:grumpy:

That pic makes me miss my Crewman.

Ugly as sin. I made the micarta for the scales, reshaped the knife a thousand times. I beat that thing like a bastard child everyday and it just begged for more.

I'd buy a 7" ESEE. I have 4" covered by my five or so Barkies in that category, and my A1 fills the ESEE-6. I thought of getting a RAT7 but it's just not ESEE and the sheaths SUCK.

So for what it's worth - +1 vote for a 7" (non clip point) ESEE.
