im looking for a fixed blade survival knife about 7 to 9 inches in lenght. under $80 dollars.

any ideas would be great.thanks.

The Kabar Johnson Adventure Blades Potbelly has YOUR name all over it. I love the sheath too. That big pouch lets you carry a basic kit right there with your knife.

I'd by a couple of them if they were a little thinner blade stock. I just don't need anything 1/4" thick. Wish I could just buy the sheaths. I'd make a liner for thinner blades.

Anyone want to sell their sheath? :D

did your potbelly come with the small piggyback knife?
if kabar was still doing the combo pack i would be really intrested.

thanks for the advce.

Get the BK7. Ethan Becker designed it to be the improved version of the USMC KABAR and having both knives, I can tell you the BK7 is a lot more of a substantial knife.

+1 for the ka bar heavy bowie

But if ur willing to spend a bit more the CS trail master is probably ur best bet

+1 Becker BK-7. Only downside is that edge sucks and you need to get it reprofiled. If you can get it reprofiled or convexed it will be a formidable survival knife. My brother's wives stepdad is bucher and knows how to sharpen knive for hard job. I gave him my Ka-Bar USMC and when I get it back it was completely reprofiled and the edge was incredible after I smoothened his work with 1500 grit and then 2000 grit sandpaper.

I haven't had time to take my Becker BK-7 for him to reprofiled. It still performs better than Ka-Bar USMC before reprofiling. Nutnfancy said also Becker 7 and 9 need reprofiling after which they become truely a formidable survival knives.

I don't have one. I've just done some research on them and they look good. I may end up with one though. There are still some with the piggyback knife out there. If not, the little knife is only $8 by itself.
