Recommendation? $700ish, what should I be looking at?

Koenig is simply amazing. I have bought in the last 2 weeks 5 Arius’s one CF scale all the others Ti scale with slight variations with the backspacer and Ti screws. And one mini goblin. And I would buy another they are that good. I would say CRK and Hinderer are great as well. I have plenty of those that I use frequently. Hoback is another great recommendation. Just bought a Kwaiback that I should be receiving this week. I’ll try to give first impressions when I get it.

A Cheburkov, Shiro or pick a custom maker and put your name on the books for a model...

I sure don't need a $700 knife for those tasks, any $20 ChiCom knockoff would the job.

Cool, I’ll take the knives and guns.

Based on my experience with knives I own:

Shirogorov would be first on my list. They have a variety of sizes and styles in the $700ish range. Personally, I prefer the neon family, but the larger sizes are also fantastic. To me the larger sizes have a more substantial feel due to size and weight, which will appeal more to some.

Second in that price range is Olamic. I only have experience with the Busker, but I think it is a fantastic design with good looks and great action if you can get used to a front flipper. I like it much more than I thought I would. Solid design and performance.

I am not as enthusiastic about Rockstead. While mine (Hizen) is an excellent knife, I don't use it much due to having to send it back to Japan for sharpening and out of fear of marring the beautiful blade. Also, the action feels hydraulic. I prefer knives with lower resistance.

Half a dozen knives nice knives of good quality that you won't be afraid to carry and use.

Agree with this, personally. The only knives I ll carry or use are the ones that cost less than 200.00. The others I take out and look at once and a while. I has to be involved with this hobby for a number of years before I fully realized how good 100 dollar folders are for work knives and edc.

Forget all that ready made stuff and get a true custom. Get something with the size, shape, and materials you want.

I’ve been looking at a Cheburkov Urbis but can’t commit as there are no reviews in English. Sweet looking knaf though.

It’ll open boxes way better than my Springfield XDM and cut meat more effectively than a Glock. Food prep isn’t even a toss up.

Why some folks insist on carrying a sidearm for EDC tasks, I’ll never know. I once got a splinter out of my finger with a Sig P365. Fortunately, I have extra fingers but I have no idea where my wedding band ended up.

Trevor Burger, while not a “large” knife, the LEXK might fall in your parameters.
He makes a quality, solid knife.
