700's

ITE

I'm loving those 705's. They look like great pocket companions.

This is one series I wish Buck would resurrect.

As for the back spring question, it may be less common, but I personally have a 701 that the back spring let go on. I also have a 703 bought when these were first on the market. It's spring let go and Buck fixed it for me way back then. They figured out pretty quickly that the HT needed tweaking on the springs.

Street Soldier, could be; this one has never been used, but when I look at these knives (700 series) they often look a little "different" to me too. OH

Okay, both 700's have arrived. I must say I'm impressed with them. Both came sharp, in excellent/good condition with good snap to all blades. At the moment they are waiting to be given a good cleaning. I don't think I'm going to carry either initially until I pick up a spare or two.
I've decided to collect the whole set, so they'll stay out of my EDC rotation for the moment.
Question: I've read elsewhere about giving knives a mineral oil bath to get it clean and to condition the wood. Are there any pitfalls or issues I should be aware of before I do this? The 705 is a bit dirtier than the 709, but both could benefit from cleaning.
Thanks.

John

No worries whatsoever with the mineral oil on these. The wood is resin impregnated so the oil will have no effect at all on it.
I've picked a few of these up that were pretty cruddy from use, and cleaned them out with dish detergent and warm water. Then blew them out with compressed air and a little WD40 and good to go.
