707-161 Gold Class Sequel

Great looking knife.

The copper looks like superconductor in the right light with the small round nibs.

One photography trick is to hold a dark colored piece of paper or such over the object to darken the reflection, which I assume is what the product photographer did in the picture posted in post #12, assuming that was to bring out the texture of the acid-washed and bright polished blade and grinds.

Benchmade really does a nice job on these Gold Class knives.

Me too. I would've liked the handle to be at least as dark as the finish on the blade, maybe even a shade or 2 darker. The stock photo looked ideal to me. If I had known the true color before purchasing, I may have passed as well, but I have my doubts that I could have talked myself out of buying it in the long run.

I think the pic below gives the most accurate representation of what it looks like in person.

Speaking of gorgeous knives , that 710 there is absolutely beautiful. You've got excellen taste. I'd love for a similar styled 710 to make its way into production again.

It's def a gorgeous knife. But I prefer the stock photo with it's (apparent) darker color.

When I first saw this knife via an email from an online dealer , I quickly thought to myself : "The price is steep. So just buy it already before you have time to feel guilty". Glad I saw this thread with pics that show the knife's true lighter color. I still like it a lot. But with its lighter shade , compared to the stock photo , I'm going to pass.

The 707 still remains the ultimate gentleman's knives IMO (or at least one of them). This 707-161 is the best looking Sequel I've seen.

I too would've liked the darker / gunmetal look. Regardless, it's a very nice piece and certainly the nicest Sequel ever.

WOW!!! That is absolutely GORGEOUS Corey!!
Lighter or darker??? Don't care!! It is beautiful!!
Enjoy it!

That is a very beautiful knife!!! I too would have liked it darker. Congrats!!

Nice one, Corey. I was thinking back a while ago when you were having your big paring down sale that it probably hurts a bit to move out so many good knives. Turning some of the proceeds from that into a beauty like your new one certainly takes some of the sting out of the wound. Your new Gold Class is the Sequel to all those other knives. ;)

You are absolutely right. I got rid of quite a few that I wanted to keep, but I needed to make room for some harder to find stuff. It won't be long and I'll have to put some more on the chopping block. I plan to hang on to those 2 for quite a while though.

Viewtiful.

The regular Sequel is on my list, but a bit smaller than my preference of around 3.5 inch blades, so it's been sitting on the back burner.

Noice!

Wow , that's a very limited amount. I'm really annoyed that I can't get this knife out of my head. I hope they get sold out before I do something stupid.

LMAO!!!!
Great post that I'm sure most of us can appreciate!!! We are sooooo damn weak!!

I also like the numbeted aspect of the Gold Class and limited editions.

And I'm staying away from selling any of my current collection (despite having numerous duplicates) in order to fund another knife purchase. BUT .... I could sell two and half Nirvanas to pay for the 161. But I love my Nirvanas way too much to sell them. My mind just won't stop.

Beauty of a knife!! Congrats!

My EDC is a standard 707. I absolutely love it! This version takes it to an all new level!!!!

Well, $1,020.00 is a ridonkulous price for this! However, I love the 707 series and would love to see it in titanium or carbon fiber with premium steel. My best one is aluminum with CF insert and M390. I'd be happy with a G-10 with S30V as a compromise.

I agree. A nice Ti handle with high end steel would totally fit the bill for me. I bet that M390 version of yours is quite a looker. I'd say that the 707 and 710 are my two favorite BM's of all-time.
