Good day all,

I recently got screwed with the 72" grinder for sale here. I was wondering if anyone else makes a 72" grinder that has the tooling arm set up. I know a coote grinder would be good but I don't want to up have to grade later on. I'm sure other people are wondering the same thing. Thanks for any advice.

Use this as a starting point.

There is enough tool porn posted on the web to keep you looking for months.
I love to see the builds people do and how they change things to suit their own tools and abilities.

Do you mind hinting to which 72" grinder you got screwed on, and the how you got screwed? In the (distant)future I want to add another grinder, I saw the guy advertising his on BF for sale, he sells on eBay, looks like a solid set up, that I would have to assemble. Lot's cheaper than the Cadillac I have(thanks for all you do Rob F.), I do know you get what you pay for. But if you CAN't pay for much you won't get anything! Thanks Rex
BTW, you can email me privatley if you don't want to post it publicly, Thanks!

We are in the process of purchasing one of these kit units, I would like to know more about your experience, and the problems you are having with it. You can e-mail me if you like. I just want to make sure who these guys are before we send them our money. I have seen several kits here on BF and on E-bay, and we want to be careful.
Will it do what they say it will do, Etc......Do they deliver? etc

Thanks

Just out of curiosity has anyone on here made or attempted to make one of these? If so what was the verdict on them?

I have made both and thy both are very nice. but to be honest if you can make the KMG clone do it as it is just amazing. but that is only if you can hold tight tolerances and get a nice tight fit up. but the NWG is a very good grinder as well. lets see if i can dig up pictures of the 2 i have made. well here is the thread i started about me building my KMG clone. but like i said the NWG is very good but its is not as ridged as the clone.

There have been a number of guys who have used Tracy's
NWG plans, and all the reveiws I have seen have been positive
It does not require machining skills or equipment
A number of guys have used the KMG Clone plans, look for Ken Kelley's WIP Thread. I like my clone alot and his WIP thread was in valuable to me. Mr Frink, God bless him, even sold me parts to help me finish mine

Wow JT that is a PIMP grinder :D.

So as a total noob I'm guessing that when I'm ready to go an inexpensive grinder route the no weld would be a good way to go then.

Tracy's NWG http://www.usaknifemaker.com/store/...inds-no-weld-grinder-plans-parts-c-99_59.html
Every place there was a locking knob I doubled them, (tool arm, work rest, rest arm)
welded a nut on top of where the tool arm and rest arm locking knobs enter to increase the threaded surface.
Once I had every thing up and running well I welded the frame solid. This was my learning how to stick weld project, so the welds didn't need to be pretty.
The NWG it a solid machine as designed but you can tweak in and make it better.

for the love of god do not send him you $$$. He has scammed many on here and ebay. You should have seen his feedback on ebay which should have told you better!!!!!

To clarify, you shouldn't send Will Hurley money. There have been too many problems at this point, though the product looked good had he delivered.

If you're talking about Tracy's NWG plans or kit, Tracy is a top notch guy, and his plans are extremely thorough and well thought out and there are hundreds or more people running that grinder design. The great thing about his designs are that you can easily modify things to suit your needs. The NWG is based off of the KMG, just designed so that you don't have to weld or do a ton of machining.
