$75 knife

I just snatched up a Kershaw Leek G-10/S30v for $68 on the Bay, I'll have pics up later when I receive it.

I own a standard Leek already so $68 for a S30v/G10 model is a no brainer for me.

You should look into one too if you decide against the 555HG

How about a Kershaw Packrat, Kershaw Blur, Benchmade Griptilian, the New Buck Vantage in S30V, Spyderco Native to name a few. Good Luck with your search! Kevin  Also the Spyderco Salt series!

In my opinion, the Kershaw RAM 1910 is the best knife you can get for the money. It snaps open quickly via flipper and has great lockup. They're durable, look good and don't cost an arm (or a leg).

When I said assisted openers, flippers apply as well. And I don't want a knife that looks very tactical, and I definitely think the RAM has a tactical look to it. I've already considered plenty of Kershaws, and none of them really grab my attention at this point. That is, besides the EnerG.

As far as Spyderco Delicas and Enduras go, is it true that the edges from the factory are a bit...obtuse, and aren't great slicers? That's a definite no-go if the case.

Edit: Also, I can't find any of the Spyderco Slipits, nor the UKPK on Ebay for $75 shipped.

How about one of the A G Russell Featherlite folders? They make it in ATS 34 steel? Nice flat light weight knife without a clip. GOOD LUCK! Kevin :D

I just want it to be a folder with a 3.5" blade max

So far, I'm looking at the Fallkniven U2 and the A.G. Russell 4" folder...but I like the size and handle on the A.G. Russell better, so I'm leaning towards it.

So 3.5" is not a limit? Get one of the Benchmade Griptillians or an Spyderco Endura/Delica... there is a reason everyone has one or both of them.

The 4" folder is 4" closed. The blade is 3". And for the delica/endura, I've heard the edge isn't great for slicing out of the box.

What are your plans for the knife? If it's going to be attacking tomatoes and cucumbers, you may want to add a flat ground blade to your list of perquisites. Otherwise, the ZDP Delica is one of the better light duty EDC knives out there for the money. It gets sharp, stays sharp, is NKP friendly, and doesn't occupy a whole lot of room in the pocket. It may feel too small if you have larger hands though.

I've got the Delica in ZDP-189 and a Benchmade/H&K 14210 in 154CM (which cost almost twice as much). The H&K does indeed have a better edge profile for fine detail slicing out of the box, however, the Delica blew it away when I needed to cut some tough and rubbery foam posterboard.

I find that I carry the Delica more often because it's so thin and light. In addition, tougher jobs are easier with the Spyderco despite the heavy construction of the H&K and both having the same blade length.

If those Buck Vantage Pros will ever show up in suitable numberrs I'm going to buy one. S30V, Bos treated, G10, USA made, deep ride clip, Under $50
