Well, well, I went to deer camp Fri. and Sat. afternoon popped a 200 lb. straw and black hog. One shot right behind the base of the ear, and the show was over. The skull & spine were pulped, but it was still kicking like mad. I lifted the front leg, and jammed my Mora in there and sliced some heart & arteries, and after about 4 major pumps of blood, immediate stillness. About a 1/4 mile drag back to the boat, then back to camp to clean it.
Skinned and quartered with my SS 760, and was still sharp enough to make a decent fuzz stick. The only real bad spots were where I disjointed the leg joints, hip sockets, and severed the head. About 10 passes on a Soft Arkansas stone, and some light stropping, and was back to popping hair nicely.
I hope to bloody it again later this week.
Will post pics soon.

Gotta love the Moras!!!

Nice work man, Ive wanted to go hog hunting forever, obviously nothing like that up here. Someday:rolleyes:

And moras work nice eh?

You just can't buy a hunting knife at any price that does the job better than the Mora. I have been using a Carbon Clipper for several years and a lot of big game animals.

Here are a couple of head shots. My nephew has the body shots on his camera, I will try to get them as well. And yes, that is a head on a stick. Other than this one, and a massive red hog a few years back, all the others I've seen in our area have been solid black.

I hope you stood on the head when you did that, getting hooked by a tusk is no fun. My grandpa always told us after 3 or 4 good squirts they were dead. Of course, he made his kids catch the blood for blood sausage... Yum yum!

Those pictures reminded me of a bad prom date in high school. The family resemblance is eerie... :D

Eerie. That hog looks happy....like he's smiling. He never knew that a Mora could stick in his craw.

My sis-n-law lives in east Texas and they have wild hogs over there. I'm going hunting there next fall and I'm thinking of taking no more than my H&K .40 and an EnZo. Well, there's a Mora stuck in the truck door pocket, in the BOB, in each of our packs, plus my bro-n-law has one (gift from Stretch!). So.......maybe I'll find some carotid with a Mora, then finish up with the EnZo.

More pics Beckerhead. You done good!

My specs!
Kill the pig, cut her throat, spill her blood...!

Great book and great knife, back on topic.

Did you clean it with the Mora?

Skinned it, quartered it, and trimmed it up for the freezer. I will be smoking some for Thanksgiving, and some for Christmas.
A little dry rub, and about 6-7 hrs. with Hickory smoke rolling all over it, along with some home made Carolina Red sauce, and Mmmmmmm!!!
