Does anyone have both? Not couting the blade material, does anyone else find a huge difference between the two? Is the flipping action different in any ways or is it just me?

There are very slight differences in the flipper actions between the 0777, 0777-M390 and 0777-M390BLK. They're all pretty robust and assured in their actions.

Did you think the composite 777 has a stronger detent but once released, flies out?

Slightly. They're all fairly strong detents but not like the ZT 0801. Also, some have their fingers obstructing the lock bar and thus interfering with the speed of deployment.

I just flipped each a number of times and the differences are minor.

I'd be into that knife if it didn't have that groove, the pivot was less shiny, and the lettering of the steel type and serial number wasn't so awkward. Also thumb studs wouldn't do any harm. But not for ~$500 dollars maybe like $325.

I'm not sure if the differences between models is as significant as the variation in individual knives within a batch. I had the privilege of handling a series of five 0560CFCBs from all across the run, including a couple of consecutive numbers, and there was a distinguishable difference in detent and smoothness and pivot tension.

Not bashing, just saying. Made it easy to pick the best one, which is an upside I guess.

I thought there was only supposed to be 150 and than I was told 200 but I see #256 on the exhange now, anyone know how many they will really make? Anyone know of where they are going to get some in stock?

As it has been discussed into the ground before, They aren't giving numbers anymore. You will be lucky to get a guesstimate when the runs are done. They always have a few extra in case any problems are encountered down the production line. For example, they make 300 and 50 have problems so they scrap them, there will still only be 250 out there even though one says 0299. Look back to the kershaw S60V Blur. There were supposed to be like 250 or something of them, they encountered a problem and only like 14 or something made it out non blem. They have said there will not be anymore blem L.E. knives so don't expect that with these unfortunately. Hope that helps.

hmmmm... I think I have seen more BLK now than the stonewashed ones...
I know about the numbers and blems and they are never actually realeased, I was just wondering what everyone here were speculating...
I still think the composite blade on the orginal one was better. It almost hurt my figers at first just to release the blade but fired out harder. Now the stonewashed ones seem to open as easily as the Tilts to me....

The detents on my two originals are definitely stronger than any of the BLK's or SW that I have had.

On the BLK's and SW versions, the detent does vary slightly.

Thank you! That's what I'm talking about! poolhustler, did you notice another other difference? either phyical or material?

Light and various angles can have a dramatic difference in how a knife looks and even more so for carbon fiber.

While the original 0777 has a stronger detent what I was emphasizing is that the differences are not enough to functionally matter.

Personally, the best ZT flipper action by far is 0801!

On another note, I just don't think all of the 0777-M390 are out yet.

Also, for ZT, don't correlate serial numbers with actual numbers produced.

Additionally, on the 0777-M390BLK I'd estimate the number produced around 200 or so rather than the original 150!

I think the detent on the DLC is stronger than the stonewashed ones.

I don't think you can pin it down and definitively say that all DLC ones have stronger detents than all SW ones. The original does have a slightly stronger detent. I think what darkangel55555 said seems appropriate:

I have this problem and I think some of the blame should be put on the small clip. The clip is really nice and custom looking, but I wish it was longer to give my fingers more room to rest on top of instead of the lockbar.

On top of that, I think the detent on my 0777 isn't strong enough for my liking. The flipping action isn't as good as it seems for a lot of you other guys' 0777. :(

Personally, a good test of an adequate detent is whether it flips open with the blade pointing to the sky.

Perhaps one day we'll see adjustable detents!
