777 composite VS. 777 M390

My M390's blade is very slighly off center, away from the detent. Is it possible that centering the blade could improve the action a bit?

- It's possible, but my guess would be that the action would be very similar. What issues are you having with the action?

None really - just in comparison to a friend's 0777 with the coating mine doesn't have quite as nice action. Don't get me wrong though it's still an amazing knife.

I have the ZT0777 BLK and my brother has the ZT0777 with stonewashed finish. I haven't noticed any difference in the flipping action. The difference may be due to the amount of pressure on the pivot vs. the coating.

I also did take apart my ZT0777 to heat anodize the titanium parts and added a little Mil-Tec1 grease to the bearings though.

ZT definitely has problems with consistency in regards to fit and finish. Not really on par with the price IMHO.

I don't know what you're basing your opinion on but personally, all my ZT knives have great fit and finish. If there are subtle differences in the flipping action I wouldn't characterize it as F&F problems!

Dealers stock of several of the same knives. To much variation in blade grind, sharpness, finishing of sharp edges, action of the knife, chipping in carbon fiber, etc.

I recently went to a big knife shop near me. They had a 0777 stone washed, the detent was noticeably weaker than my blk. Mine really fires out of there. They also had a 0560cbcf I was pretty excited to check out, but the detent in it was so weak that I couldn't make the blade fully deploy under any conditions. I was really bummed out. I tried over and over again. Guy behind the counter didn't seem to think it was a big deal... I think I would have sent it back to ZT right away and had it fixed up if I ran the store.

I have the 0561, 0560CBCF and 0560BLK. All three have weak detents. The only sure way to have it deploy without flicking your wrist is to have the blade point to the ground to allow gravity to work. It's not something that can be fixed at the factory. I asked back when the KAI forum was around.

I wish they all had strong detents like the ZT 0801. The detents on my 0777, 0777-M390, 0777-M390BLK and 0600 are all nice and strong to varying degrees. All allow the action to open the blade even when the blade is pointing to the sky.
