Hello Bladeforums,

I'm very happy to be making knives again and to be bringing my work back to y'all on BF. It's exciting to finally have the knife shop fully moved, fully-functioning, and to be making what I love to make. It's also exciting to have finally re-upped my "knifemaker" membership here. I'll keep making a few hunting or EDC knives, but my focus has shifted to knives for food preparation. The logic is that everyone can use a kitchen knife for its INTENDED purpose every day, but very few people can use and enjoy their hunting knife--as it was designed to be used--on a daily basis.

This knife is a design I've been working on, adjusting, testing, and improving for the last seven months. The 1095 blade is 2" deep at the widest and the 8.5" long, and is heat treated to a 59-60 rc. It is .100" at the spine in front of the handle and has a distal taper as well as a very slight convex to the edge. The knife is designed as an 'all-purpose' chef knife that's not too thin to be overly delicate, but thin enough to be an almost magical feeling slicer.

The handle is 25 year old walnut that I recently had stabilized by K&G. Compared to most chef knives, the handle is narrow and tall. This is a characteristic I like so much in knives by great makers like Dozier. It has a hand-rubbed Tru-Oil finish that imparts a nice luster. The pins are 5/16" solid 416 SS.

This is the first knife of its kind to be offered for sale anywhere, to anyone. One of the comments Loveless has about his own work is that it's "...almost classicly simple." As a maker, that simplicity is something I'm trying to honor. I'm really happy with how the design looks and feels, and I hope you think so too.

Price is --SOLD--$255--SOLD-- shipped to the continental US. Please inquire about international shipping before putting your hand up for it. The knife will be listed on my website beginning tomorrow, so BF members have 1st dibs.

Thanks for looking, and please let me know what you think.

-Patrick

Patrick, it's a beauty. Nice handle shape and good clearance for the fingers. Great all-rounder at 8.5". Making food prep knives is good thinking because they will get used often.

This knife is an excellent demonstration of how beauty and function can, and should, be treated as two sides of the same coin. Excellent work.

Really nice. In so disappointed that we invested in production knives a few years back. Not even comparable to knives like this!

Happy to take it and let me know postage to Canberra but the usual $30-$50 is acceptable Patrick...have bought a few now including Andy Roys and that sort of rates are fine...cheers Damon

I'd really like to check out your wa-handled gyuto when it's finished, please add me to your e-mail list if you have one as I do not check here often enough. As a pro chef I'd love to be a Guinea pig tester and compare your design with my other j-knives in the kitchen :).

Thanks for the compliments! I don't have a mailing list yet, but if there's more interest, I can think about putting one together.

Bennomad, looks like USPS can do the shipping for within the range you're taking about, so it's yours.

I'll follow up with you directly with the details. I'm having trouble sending you a PM, so please email me directly at pkbhandmade@gmail.com and I can send you an invoice.
