Next up is my collection of Greg Pirela Design collaborations, which I believe are some of the most beautifully-designed and functional knives available, created in tandem with some of the greatest makers of our time, including Greg Lightfoot, Allen Elishewitz, Andre DeVllers, Pat Crawford and others I wish I had owned. the amazing Pirela designed battle axe. all are “as-new” given that I purchased almost all new and kept them stored in a climate-controlled safe.

1. Joel Pirela/Mike Obenauf SONIC is No. 07 of a limited edition run of 15 and is one of the most beautiful knives that is at the same time incredibly menacing and functional. The liner lock feels phenomenal in-hand, thanks to Greg’s trademark handle design with desert tan G-10 scales over bead-blasted Titanium bolsters. On the business end, Mike’s amazing hand-rubbed S30V clip point recurve grind brings menace to the handle’s elegance. This knife is IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND anywhere and is in as-new condition. $995
2. Joel Pirela/Brad Duncan XPERT Auto is one of two prototypes/personal knives in the collection. This one was Greg’s personal Xpert, which I purchased from him on USN. Dual auto with 3.5" BG-42 stainless blade with Titanium liners and bolsters. Only one of 10 made with black linen Micarta. Near mint, although it does have minor signs of wear on the pocket clip, which is also Titanium and mounted for tip-down carry. When I purchased the knife, Greg warned me the auto action was a little “skiddish,” but I have not had any problems. $695
3. Joel Pirela/Greg Lightfoot VORAX Flipper is No. 15 of a limited edition run of 15, so this one was the last one made in 2004. It is a uniquely styled collaboration with Joel’s signature handle design, which is both beautiful and amazingly functional, and Greg’s amazing hand-ground dagger point blade. Features fine bead blast titanium bolsters and carbon fiber scales. Titanium liners and barrel spacers. Bead blast stainless steel pocket clip, tip down carry. Strong detent, good lockup and perfectly centered blade seating. Purchased new and never used, carried or sharpened. $995
4. Joel Pirela/Pat Crawford DEFENDER is No. 10 of a limited edition run of 30 and features a hollow hand-ground S30V drop-point blade with swedge and Spyderco-licensed thumb hole, hand-rubbed and polished to a near-mirror finish. The all-Titanium handle is skeletonized and bead-blasted with matching tip-down clip and lanyard hole. Steel backspacer. Pristine condition. $795
5. Joel Pirela/Allen Elishewitz PULSE Flipper is No. 10 of a limited edition run of 15 and features a DLC-coated CPM-154 blade with Elishewitz logo medallion, hand-ground by Allen to match the carbon fiber handle with Greg’s unique blend of form and function in its design. Flipping action is outstanding given Allen’s custom pivot and hardware. The skeletonized clip is bead-blasted stainless steel. Perfect blade seating, detent, and lockup. Purchased new and never used, carried or sharpened. $995
6. Joel Pirela/Andre Devilliers ASHAZI Folder is the second prototype/personal knife in the collection, with no number on the blade or handle. Only 10 were made. This might be the rarest of the lot, as it is almost impossible to even find images of the knife online. The knife is absolutely stunning, with a 3.8” hand-ground drop-point recurve blade with swedge and that same Spyderco-licensed thumb hole. The handle features sculpted Micarta scale over bead-blasted Titanium liners and bolsters. Bead-blasted clip for tip-down carry with lanyard hotels at the butt of the knife through both liners. Knife is in pristine condition. $895
7. Joel Pirela/Pat Crawford STROBE Folder is the first (No. 001) of a limited edition run of 10 and features an aggressive hawkbill blade with very high satin finish and was impeccably hand-ground. The blade opens smoothly using the licensed Spyder Hole. The Liner lock is very secure and there is custom jimping on the lock bar to aid in the release. The trademark Pirela extreme ergonomically-designed handles are Black G-10 with Titanium bolsters and a thick Titanium back-spacer. The Titanium clip and liners match the all-Titanium bolsters. $895
8. Joel Pirela/Greg Lightfoot DELTA Folder is No. 003 of a limited edition of 20. This big Tactical has a beefy BG-42 stainless blade recurve blade hand-ground and made impeccably razor-sharp for which Greg is known. A dramatic custom swedge and Greg’s signature subsonic penetrator tip round out the business end of the knife. The handle is trademark Pirela and the kind of shape that makes it melt into your hand. Very thick Titanium liners under the Carbon Fiber handles, the front bolsters are also Titanium. Low rider Titanium pocket clip keeps this knife out of sight. The blade opens very smoothly with nice detent and perfect lock-up and blade seating. $895
