BLEMS are knives having a blemish that does not affect their serviceability but keeps them from being HI best. This morning I have several to offer. Their description is listed below. I have been reviewing my inventory and doing some inventory reduction to make room for new stock. Hopefully you will find something to add to your collection or to put in your gift drawer. Thank you as always.

Yes, that was a great deal, good snag Steve! That is about half off what they used to sell for. You can see the white in the horn that Sgt. Khadka always likes to use. Great little knife.

Think we need some new "Smilie" options.
There is nothing for "Drool" .......
Reckon someone needs that Kumar WWII - please ... someone .......

Dang! Somebody got the Jange! I was gonna try for that one. Looks like the same one from back in December. Whoever got it, please post pics, that thing is a brute!

Campers and outdoor types, the 18" WWII is really hard to beat for a great all 'round camping chopper. I have one by Kumar that is stained and scratched with a cracked handle that was hastily filled with some off color wood filler while in the field, cho creep as wide as I've ever seen, and missing a chakma lost somewhere in the woods of IL. I wouldn't trade it for the world:D Good little soilder, and fine work by Kumar. 75 bucks is an absolute steal!

I thought we were getting away from the cho creep. But there is alot of it here.

Eric.

other than a great street name, what's this "cho creep"?

i thought about it, and thought about it... but well, i thought some more :) someone's happy as a result :> now, if the handle were wood, and bigger... look out - i've been looking for an AK about those specs (well, *51* oz? is that a typo? wow)

Eric, it's just because Yangdu is clearing out some old stock at bargain prices. More than half the knives I have in my collection probably have those features. The knives are evolving now, and if 6 more knives were made today with these specs I doubt they would look the same, and you would see more std. bolsters and less cho up the blade.

Still great knives though, and for the price for a lifetime knife these can't be beat.

I forget who came up with the term "cho creep", but they deserve a place in HI history. Whoever it is, step forward and take a bow:)
Anyway, "cho creep" refers to the amount of space between the bolster and the start of the cho. In your old timey khuks (and many of the much earlier models), the cho was right up snug with the bolster. However, as time went on, the cho started to slowly and surely move out farther towards the edge of the blade. To creep, if you will. The amount of cho creep is simply an aesthetics issue. The reason behind it is still a bit of a mystery. Some say that it is the kami's belief that the western hand is just HUGE and needs the extra space. Some say is it done so that we don't cut our clumsy selves. Some say that it is a buffer zone so that water is not accidentally spilled on the tang as it is poored during the quelching process (sure to cause the tang to become too hard and fail). It's probably a combo of all three, but since Yangdu took over the bolsters have become traditional, and the cho has stopped creeping. Good things for the looks of the knife.
My point was that even though everyone wants a khuk with a traditional bolster and no cho creep there is no need to be down on a blade for having it. My WWII was my 3rd khuk. I got it right after my villager and an AK. The villager I still have and love. The AK was gifted and broke. The WWII is still packed on 90% of my trips. For all my love for the AK bowie, for the Rose, for the YCS, for the M43, the 18" WWII is just really hard to beat for choppin', splittin', and fightin'
