other than a great street name, what's this "cho creep"?

It's the amount of space between the cho and the bolster. If you search on it, you'll learn more about it than you ever wanted to know. :)

Hi Guys:

My apologies to all for getting the #7 -- 13.5 inch 14 ounce Sgt. Khadka special. Samll imperfection on the spine. $40 YBB.

It was pure luck. I always miss out on the DOD's. I got a few minutes free at work and looked at the HI forum and there were the sales. I bought the knife even thought my taste is not for flashy sheaths. Just couldn't pass it up. Anyone want to trade sheaths?

Thanks, Steve

Are the chakma and karda in the sheath backwards in the photo od DOD #3?

It looks like a buy.............

Thanks, Steve

I'd love to Steve but I'd have to find a standard scabbard to match. I have the twin of this knife by Sgt. Khadka with hill walnut handle and a white metal on red scabbard, but that doesn't help. (This would have made a nice mate to that one!) I have several 13.5" katunjes that I imagine would do nicely, but then there would be no place for the karda and chakma, so I guess not. Give it a chance though; these are really nice scabbards.

Hi Norm:

I sure will. I can always make a molded kydex sheath for it. I've been thinking about a way to carry the chakma and karda if I made one out of kydex. The sheath would need the two pockets on the outside. Not a problem except that I don't have any kidex rivets that will go through three layers of kydex and then peen over. Does anyone know if kydex rivets are made in different lengths?

Thanks, Steve

Steve,
They do come in different lengths but I cant remember what length you would need for 3 layers...Are you using .09 or .06??? I am pretty sure that the 1/4 post kind is about it..

You can use regular leather rivets and they would prolly work just as well, just not look as tacticool:D

Sheath with the Karda and Chakma on the outside of the sheath?? (this is the idea i am working on, but I only do leather)

or

Sheath with a pouch containing the Karda and Chakma that is detachable from the sheath?? Maybe a firesteel or a file for stubborn edges inlcuded

Hi Leatherface:

Thanks for the ideas.

Sure, kydex. I like making kydex sheaths and they are very durable and thin. It should be pretty easy to mold a piece of kydex over the outside of a formed sheath for the two little fellas. Rivets were my only problem. I've been experimenting with glues to glue the kydex together and make the add on pouch even better.

If you have to rivet through the sheath to attach the pouch, holding a heated rod to the inside end of the rivet will allow you to "recess" the rivet so it doesn't scratch the blade of the kuk.

I was thinking about riveting through the two sided sheath with the pouch spanning the width of the sheath to reduce attachment points. I have some black rivets from making leather sheaths that might work well between the chakma and karda. I don't think I explained this very well.

Various belt loops or attachment are only limited by your imagination.

Thanks, Steve

Heck, on #3, you were both too late by about six or seven hours. I sent for it at 4:00 and still didn't get it.

Eric.

Steve,
Wrapping the pouch around the sheath is what I was talking about...Just sand the pouch to fit the sheath and rivet it and ya ready to go...I am pretty sure that is what I am going to do with mine..

Just started making sheaths and that is pretty much the only decent idea that I have had err well that and the snap sheath for quick draw models:D

Sorry guys, the 15" Ang Khola is coming home to Leatherface...Didnt know until I got up this morning so I didnt post...Should have posted that I sent the e-mail though and I didnt..Mea Culpa:(
