8" Shiv

I think Nathan said he may make a few more. Not sure if hes gonna be doing as many as the LC tough.. I would have a also put that youre looking for one in your signature under your posts as well, if i was you.. They show up in the for sale production sometimes custom knife area, once in a while.

I've got a lead on one that is already here in Australia but if that doesn't work out, i will definitely be putting it in my signature and be on the lookout for future sales

By the way, do the 8" Shiv's have the Delta 3V or regular 3V heat treat. I'm pretty sure i read they have the new heat treat but the symbol on the blade says "3V" and doesn't have the Delta triangle around it

I do not think they have the Delta protocol as I believe Nathan has not made any since that protocol was developed.

I would expect all 3V going forward would however.

If you can find one you should probably take it. I'm sure it will be a while before the new ones are made, but some will probably come on the market when people want to upgrade.

There was a progressive development of the protocol. Not only 2, industry standard and Delta. So depending when the one you are talking about was made, it might have a different protocol.

I didnt think there would be any shiv's out here! Or anything from CPK to be honest! Trying to get those friday sales is equal to being up at 5am on a saturday ;)

Thank you for the information, Justin

I found it hiding under Uluru last Saturday at 4:59am ;)

Haha well you're already more successful than i am getting those 2 FK's last week. Everytime i try stay up, i fall aleep or forfeit just before 5am. But if/when those Shivs or the new survival knife start being sold in sales, i am going to make sure i stay awake and energetic to repeatedly click the refresh button!

Yeah i made the mistake of trying to stay awake instead haha whoops! Thanks man! Once you get around to trying out your FK's please let us know how they go :)

Will do!! They will be here approx Friday this week or early next week if all goes well! I'll take a couple pics and post them here with my thoughts :)

I dont think it matters personally, I see very little difference between the two. I think the delta 3v might be better for thin ground blades, which the Shiv is not. Even prior to the delta, Nathans 3v was one of the best if not the best in the industry.

Just scored an A2 Shiv on eBay. Now I just need to track down a sheath and someone who might want to trade for a 3V for collector's purposes.

Grats on the score. Hope you got a good deal!

I think you are better off waiting for the new ones to come for the superior performance if you mean trading your A2 for a newer user. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but the A2 was thicker, heavier, a little different grinds, and IIRC there were more A2 made than 3V.

Yes, I did get a pretty good deal on it. I bid hoping to get it in order to trade it towards one in 3V, as I'm more of a user than a collector.

Sent an email through the forums, guessing it got spam foldered. I was wondering who did the leather sheath in this picture? I will be needing one similar to it. Thanks!
