GM, trying to figure out how to tell you how much you disgust me without offending you!:D Sweet collection!

WOW, GM, i am very impressed with your knives and your prowess with computers to give us a 3 speed slide show. Thank You for your fine efforts.

Thanks guys, the knives are mine ,but the pictures and computer stuff is done by my friend Tony,i'm good at collecting, but i'm an idiot on the computer. G.M

Thanks GM. I see at least a dozen of those I'm sure I bid on. :grumpy: You have a nice assortment. Like those black ones!:thumbup::thumbup:

Great collection G.M! It is pleasing to see the variations, all lined up!!
Here is one I mis-filed and left out of my previous post.
Unusual, in that it is a single-backspring, two blade stockman. The bone, while not peachseed, is particularly nice. This is the only one of these I've ever seen, so I'm assuming they are a bit rare.
The scratches are on my scanner, not the knife. (Looks like I'm due for a new one; scanner that is.)

First time I've ever seen an 8OT like this one. I have an 834 in the same combination with the oval shield, but it is not called an old timer, and the handles are smooth. I like the black color with nickel/silver bolsters. Is the shield nickel/silver too, or is it gold? This one of yours has an awesome swedge cut there.

The shield is gold colored, i have a 61ot made the same way, never have been able to get any info on them,G.M

Certainly not up to the standards set by others here, but found this one in my collection while digging for some others last night.

I like that smooth greenbone, Dave! Do you, or does anyone, know when that might have been produced?

I honestly couldn't tell you. Best hint I can give you is it came in one of the tan "Sharp Idea" boxes with "8OTG" inkstamped on the end of the box. Someone like Codger, with more knowledge of box timelines, may be able to give you an idea with that, but not me.

Charlie and Dave, that looks like the same handles, down to the double threads, as the '83 green bone Heritage Collection knives. The only difference is the master blade on those had a nail nick rather than a long pull, and it wasn't marked 8OT. I'm guessing this one was probably made around the same time with leftover stock for an SFO. That style box would seem to confirm this as well. Nice knife!

Charlie, that is a SWEET S.C.C.!

Here's another variation of the green bone 80 series, this one has LTD stamped on the tang, along with machined backsprings.

I've never seen that much "work" on production backsprings; very interesting!

The only other one I can recall is the 80 model from the Grand dads Old Timer series.

Actually a number of the Scrade anniversary models have what Schrade calls engine tuned back springs. G.M

There was name for that sort of work on the backsprings & liners.
It was called "jimping."

It goes back to the Schrade Cut Co time (IIRC). I have seen similar working on Camillus knives as well. I imagine Schrade also used it on SFOs also, but I can't think of an example off the top of my head.

It might be worth a thread of it's own to show knives (especially Schrades) with jimping.
