$800 budget! What would you get?

I would say a Hinderer, but I already have a couple...unless he makes some more fixed blades, then it would be a FieldTac.
I would also say a Direware SOLO, but I have mine on order already...
next thing for me would probably be a Les George VECP folder
or maybe a Jens Anso custom Zulu or 67.
or maybe a Darrel Ralph custom Gunhammer.
There's just too many great knives/makers out there to choose from.
 
It would have to be a unique special-order custom for sure to justify the price.

I really have an attraction to Ray Laconico's large bowie-style knives.

That depends on a few things . Am I recomending a knife for YOU or am I saying what I would buy for MYSELF ? I have no idea what you do with your knives . If you into folders or fixed blades . Weather you're in the military , are a woodsman and hunter or you live in an urban area and just need to open letters and cut string .

For myself , the one things I'm missing in my knives is a big chopper . So with $800 I'd buy a Busse Battle Mistress and never need another chopper , ever .

How do you find yourself in a predicament where you can only spend the $800 on a blade? In this economy, unless you're already rich, I'd take that money and put it in the bank, probably. :D

The only thing I'll work for decades for is my pension. Nothing else is worth decades of effort (maybe a mortgage on a house or a good woman, but I got neither of those). :D
 
Wow... Hinderer XM-18 3.5, Hinderer XM-24, CRK Umnum, Strider.. Maybe, ZT 0561, I Would Prefer To Get Like A $400 Knife, And Then Save The Rest.
Or Get Myself A Really Good Custom.

This is definitely NOT a predicament; it's a LUXURY!

I'd commission a custom folder, 3" S90V blade steel, nice burl-wood scales, titanium frame with PM2 lockup. I would like that.

buy as many para2's as I could with it and flip 'em; and soon double my money and then bank it... then do it over again maybe with another hot or hotter model.
 
have a custom folder made with cpm10v blade and titanium scales with ivory inlays a battle mistress or a custom stag handle damascus chopper
 
A crappy knife that was made out of 24k gold, melt it down, and buy multiple knives.

But if I can't cheat the question I'd buy a really nice custom fixed blade. Or a winkler R&D hawk. I'd carry the hawk everywhere I went :P
 
Haha gotta love the answers that are not blade/knife related when he mentioned you could only spend it on a blade haha. But definitely grab a few CRK, or a Strider and Hinderer obviously for the Hinderer only 1 :( but the CRK and strider maybe even one of each? :) Or just grab as Many Spydercos I could possibly get with 800 :D
