8000 grit/3 micron DMT stone!

Wow, nice product. I like the DMT stones for a quick touch up then strop, much less time and mess than the Norton water stones.

Thanks for posting link.

hmm, I have a whole bunch of 2.5 micron silicon carbide paste, but I like using dia-sharps.

It's kind of expensive, but if you like high finishes, but don't like messing with Arkansas stones, waterstones, or pastes, it seems to be a good buy. Plus, the thing has a lifetime guarantee that it won't wear out.

Edit: And I forgot: no flattening!

Damn, that is tempting. I even missed that they had come already out with an extra fine.

My favorite eBay seller of the D8XX will order the D8EE for me for the same price.

It's peanut-butter D8EE time!

Where did you see they were warrantied for life against wear? I didn't see that information on either of the two pages you linked, and dmt has historically only stated that the stones are covered "for a reasonable period" or some such.

Maybe I am incorrect.

still thinking about this, wanna know how this would work edge-leading, since I've always had to strop at the higher grits because of the base materials (leather, paper)

dammit i was hoping they came out with these. I saw this thread went to ebay searched for one and found it. I didnt need to spend the money but couldnt resist I will review it when I get it.

Edge-leading on hard (King) and medium-hard (Norton) waterstones hasn't been a problem, so it should be easy to do on diamond plate.

Guilty of that, too. :) Did you order from the dude in Canada? He sold me one of my D8XX stones and it shipped fast, but they were in stock when I ordered (versus brand new like the D8EE).

In Verhoeven's paper on sharpening, he found that edge-leading gives greater sharpness than edge trailing, another benefit of this stone.

Who's "that dude" in Canada! I'm in Canada and would love to get DMT stuff without border problems.

Great. Now I have more diamonds to buy, and my wife still doest get any. Does anyone know what carat the 0.5 and 0.25 micron diamond stropping pastes are?:D

You gentlemen are truly evil :D

Ever since I started coming to this website I've been spending $$$...

Yeah, I just ordered the D8EE from the eBay Canadian connection. When I bought, he listed 27 in stock, I believe. Price was decent and free shipping made it even better...

I'm really curious to see how this will stack up against my paper and 8000 Norton, or even the Syderco UF stone -- we'll see, but it's certainly worth a look as diamond stones are SO easy to work, especially with convex bevels...

Let's compare notes down the line...
