Hey guys, I am exploring my options for putting a durable and black or at least close to black coating on some 80crv2 axes I just got back from heat treat. I saw a thread where people were talking about using acid and getting some high carbon steels a pretty dark black. When I etch this 80crv2 with ferric chloride it just turns a light grey. Is there some extra steps I missed? Or does anyone have any good suggestions? I am looking into parkerizing or using some cold blue. A guy on here, I think his name is Ben tendik, makes some sick hawks if he had time and wants to chime in his finishing process. Thanks guys!
