A few more questions: Does #1 also come with a Kydex sheath? Is a belt attachment included?

And is the “false edge” sharpened, or if not would you be willing to include that in the price?

I’ve never used a full-on brut de forge and am unfamiliar with its use characteristics. Is it possible for the scale to detach under the types of use these blades would normally be exposed to?

Finally, because you’re new to the Forum, would you accept PP Goods and Services as payment for the $215?

Thanks for your patience with my questions - most, if not all, are likely occurring to other potential buyers as well.

GLWS!

Hello,

I do not have any social media yet. I might someday.

#1 does not have a kydex sheath, only a knife case.

For #2, the kydex sheath has a belt loop attachment that can accommodate belts up to 2 1/2" in width and 5/16" in thickness. In the original post I could only upload 10 pictures but I notice I can upload more in a "new reply" so I'll include one of the back of the sheath at the end of this comment.

The false edges are false. I prefer to keep them as they are. If it's essential that it be sharp for you then I could sharpen them $10 per knife.

With regards to forge scale, these knives have been sand blasted clean and possess only the pattern that the forge scales has left behind. The dark color is from cold bluing.

PP Goods and Services would be fine.

Hope this answered your questions. Thanks

That helps a great deal and will aid others when considering your blades. Again, welcome to the BF community!

Nice looking knives , what is the hardness of the steel .
Thanks. I don't have a rockwell/hardness tester yet so I can't say for sure. I treated them to be around 61RC though. The edges held good when chopping up some wood.

I’d like to thank you for taking the initiative to demonstrate this chopper in action - something all would appreciate as a testament to a relatively new smith and his work. You’re to be congratulated on your transparency and showing us what these blades are capable of. As for me, the greatest fear is that the forged scale could potentially mask cracks or other weak points that would render the blade unusable. Again thanks for the demo and GLWS. I’m sure the sales opportunity just increased.

The blades were sand blasted clean and all the scale has been removed. Any pattern left on the surface of the steel is from hammering and or pressing of the scale into the steel while forging. I thank you for your interest and comments. It's good to hear that people like what they see.
