If I am not mistaken the TIW stamp was a reference to the heat treating shop they used. Does that imply that GEC is now heat treating their blades in house?

Awesome, thanks Barrett. My search skills are lacking. Kinda neat to see a new tang stamp. Also thanks Alchemy, and I thought you were just funninPaul, here's the info GEC provided beneath a photo in the "What's Happening?" section of their website.

(They actually edited the caption for that photo; originally it just said "carbon KEEPS cutting" with no other info.)
for me it's not so much about comfort, but more like if i'll squeeze the closed blade into the backspring. I tend to do that with full length blades, which is why i prefer smaller secondaries or single blades.I'll have to hold the real knife to know for sure, but I built a scale model of the knife to check for ergonomics before buying, and what I found was that the blades filled in the hollow in the fingers nicely, combining with the hump in the back to really fill out the grip. For my own hand size and shape, it was very comfy indeed.
Hopefully the real deal feels just the same, because my plans for this knife include rather a lot of wood.
Oh, I think I understand. So you squeeze it into blade rap, basically. Makes sense.for me it's not so much about comfort, but more like if i'll squeeze the closed blade into the backspring. I tend to do that with full length blades, which is why i prefer smaller secondaries or single blades.
So: no photos due to the abysmal lighting in my home at the moment, but I just got the knife and this was the first thing I tried. Your hands may of course vary, but I couldn't manage to squeeze the blades into contact with any part of the blade well while gripping it. I had to hold it with the well up and push down on the blades, and even then, the tip touched the well before the blade touched the hump in the middle.for me it's not so much about comfort, but more like if i'll squeeze the closed blade into the backspring. I LOVE this knife, but some dudes are gonna hate it. The pulls are smooth and LIGHT. Sub-swiss army by like a lot. I'll say more later with photos.
These do not have half-stops, correct?
No half stops. And Mike wasn't kidding about the silky, flushed pivots. Took me 3 months to get my 74 as clean as this came new.I like the way the Natural Canvas Micarta looks a lot more than I thought I would! I'm afraid the Northfield jigged bone is going to end up being lighter than I had hoped, but I'm still waiting to see the final product on that one before deciding between it and the Tidioute jigged bone.
