This is a thin, broad bladed large camp knife in the tough and fine grained 8670 steel. It is designed for use with a lanyard. It is thin geometry, and will cut vegetation and small branches with outstanding effectiveness. It will also chop like a heavier knife due to this geometry. It is not suitable for batoning, as the taper of the cross section is just too gentle. If you want to try it anyway, reprofile the edge until it is at least .020" behind the edge, or it will be susceptible to rolling against hard knots, but that would in my opinion needlessly detract from it's capabilities as a light and thin chopper. No sharpened spine on this one. Designed for comfort in both regular grip and choked up.
Specs
Steel: 1/8" 8670
Geometry: Hi flat-vex grind, .012" behind the edge.
Overall Length: 17.5"
Cutting Edge Length: 11.5"
Weight: 19.5 oz
Handle: Red canvas Micarta, OD G10 liners, brass tubes. Note that the handle is inside out.
It doesn't affect function.
Thanks for looking!
