9 years of Traditional Forum's knives. 2006-2014 A family picture.

Meako, i would have to be the '09 Barlow, the hardest most difficult knife we had made, the one that caused the most commotion, the one that was the most stressful knife creating the most dissension among members. Still when it was finished turned out to be one of the forum favorites.

The black sheep for me was the '10 Ebony Queen Moose, it was the exact opposite of what I wanted that year, there was nothing on the knife that I wanted that year. It also had the hardest pull of any knife we'd done yet. Still in the end it was a good design and in the last 2 years it's actually grown on me and is finding its way into my pocket more often.

Really though I can't pick a favorite, that's like asking a dad to pick his favorite kid, ( right now it's new and unfamiliar do the Stag Jack is my favorite but don't tell the others ;) )

Thanks for the pics, Ted! I'm going to put one on my desktop for a while!
It'll remind me of all the struggles, with good outcomes! It is wonderful to have the history displayed before our eyes.

Love the family photos! Thanks!

Been a part of this since the 2011, so have that plus the 2012, 2013 and 2014. I managed to trade into the 2007, as well, so that rounds out at 5 of 9.

My "black sheep" has been the 2007. It came in decent shape, with a slightly lifted corner on one scale. That progressed to unacceptable amounts, and needed to be sent in. Unfortunately they had no mastadon remaining, and had to re-haft the entire thing in bone. Luckily, that bone is nicely aged, and, in no way detracts from the knife's beauty. It actually gets carried more often, now that I have a 2.5" blade limit at work. None of the recent knives come under that limit. It's sort of like that trouble-making uncle who all the kids like to hang out with since they think he's so cool.

Favorite is hard to pick, but for now, I'm quite enjoying getting to know the 2014.

I was at my sister in law's house so I was limited in back drops and props but I'll get a nice wallpaper worthy shot up in a couple of days.

Charlie, I look at every knife and remember all we, (you guys) went through to bring them to fruition. In the end every year was a triumph and the knife designed by the democratic process was made. I even remember the triumphs and tragedies associated with that year and the losses of members and makers who had passed away that year.

Without the dedication, sacrifice and generosity of the members in our community we'd never have such treasures to carry, fondle and pass on to others who would appreciate the blood, sweat and tears that went into every years knife.

Thanks again guys for a hard job usually made harder by our impatience we really do appreciate it.

Nice collection, it's great to see all the forum knives together. Would really like to see more pictures. The only one I have is the 2014.

Feel free if you have any pics of past or present forum knives to post them here, we've gotten to the point where we have 9 Traditional forum's knives and if my math is correct there's about 2000 forum knives total out there so there are enough for profit ops and a great thread. Well see where this goes. :)

I've only had I believe three of the forum knives, and only own one (soon to be two though with the arrival of the 2014 knife).

I've had the forum moose and the forum Northwoods small stockman. The shield on the small stockman fell out, I sold or traded it. The moose's pull was too difficult for me and I never carried it, and later either sold or traded it. The 2012 knife was the only one I went nuts over. I got one, and gave it to a friend of mine, a well known and respected maker, he likes slipjoints and got me started on the GEC craze, after I saw one of his 73 trappers (and later bought it from him). I've showed him a ton of knives, and a few have interested him over the almost ten years I've known him. The forum knife was one of them ;). I was lucky enough to find another one from a great member on here and all is right with the world.

I would say I am a the moose. Hard to open, a pattern that should have been given a little tlc but was kicked to the curb. Fat and robust, but still a stout knife. Stubborn as a mule, but with a lot to offer.

From what I've seen, the black sheep of the family? I've only been cognizant of the forum knives process since the EO jack, but I will say that the 2013 knife would be the black sheep to me. Shunned and not talked about by me, anyway, but not a bad knife once I saw it. They all look like fine knives, and I am glad to have the 2012, soon on the 2014 and might even get the 2013.

Thanks to everyone involved in getting these off the ground over the years and Ted, thanks for making my wallet cry a little more :grumpy:.

;)

This years was my first stag and first bladeforums knife. I am envious of that collection and happy for you, super nice knives, but I am also glad I got one finally. Thanks for sharing.

Nice family photo, Ted! That can be a pain to get them all into one place. I've got all 9 as well, all mint. I'll have to drag them out and see about taking a pic of them together.

Thanks,
Glenn

Awesome collection, thanks for sharing !
My favorite is the 2012 knife, but the others are great looking as well !

I have been feeling under the weather for the past few days, so no time in the shop lately, but I did get outside in the nice fall weather to snap some pics of my forum knife family. Like Ted, and I am sure others as well, I was fortunate enough to be around when all these forum knives came up for order. However I see that Ted has been able to enjoy all his knives, which I have not been able to bring myself to do...yet.

So, here are some pics...

The 2009 knife is probably most special to me. It came up for order right after I had my bypass surgery, so I was afraid I wasn't going to get the order in while I was laying around the house trying to heal. I was fortunate enough to procure one, but I wish I had ordered 2, for it is my favorite. First world problems, I guess...

These are some super cool knives. I've got a few of them and a couple of things that I always think about when they're done are all of the input and creation on the knife design and even on the tube or box and the members who actually make the order and take care of the payments. A bunch of ideas and hard work go into each years knife. They really are knives of direct "democracy".

The 2009 was my first knife w/stag!! My favorites are the 2009's and 2011's but that 2014 look is growing on me.......

I missed the first one, but Charlie sold me his spare. Full set plus the runner-up Eric's Jack. Pardon the crappy photo, I'm not much of a photographer.

Looking at the number of clip points makes me wonder about all the other options. Still, I'd like to see a slim "California" clip like Schrade used to do. And the collection needs some color...
