I have been recieving packages from a few fellow forumites and I try to get at least one up as quickly as possible from the bunch that the given person sent me. Orvet sent me a box of goodies, this was one of the knives inside, both blades had the tips broken off, The belt sander (and a bucket of water handy, mind you) made short work of the blades, hard to notice they were broke unless you have it laying next to a whole one. The blades were pretty scratched up too, so plenty of rubbing with 600 grit and some light buffing got it presentable. Anyway, the handles are an experiemnt I have been wanting to try for a few weeks, just needed a donor knife, and this one fit the bill, away with the delrin, I put on this new material, can you guess what the handles are made from? :D

Great work Kaleb!
OK, I give up, what is the handle material? I will wait and let everyone else guess for a while. :D

Excellent work as usual, a Ratman Custom!

ding ding ding, we have a winner, Good guess codger, squared up peach seeds butted together then shaped down to the right size :D

Original peechseed jigging! Neat! Dang, now I know I have to include some exotic handle materials in the next sending!

By the way, the SW #861 repair came today. I cannot see the repair with the naked eye. And can only see it with a glass because I know where to look. Keep up the excellent work MM!!

Now, about that mystery project... ever worked with 10,000 year old ivory?;)

I would have gotten it wrong though. I was thinking apricot seed or walnut shell. As others have said, great work MM.

Thanks, and glad you are happy with it. Hmmmm, never worked ivory, what exactly do you have in mind? post here or email me, either will do :)

ahhh harrrr....I seee. Whether I can do it or not, depends on how you want it done, pins, pinless? what kind of finished product are you looking for?

Brass compression rivets like the stock ones (provided), dupe the original scales profile?

I'd suggest having the Mammoth Ivory stabilized before you do anything

Ken McPhail can do it

It is stabilized. And I understand MM's reluctance to try it. Perhaps he would rather play with stabilized fancy wood. It's not quite as old, and not brittle at all.

Codger; Let me know when you get that 15OT finished up and we'll put it in a "stabalized inlayed sheath".

I've contacted custom makers off and on for a couple of years now and they are always booked far in advance...which is good! Maybe Jerry is not too busy right now. Hmmm...

Reckon we can find some real elephant hide for the 15OTWM? I have looked menicingly at some wallets though....
