I own a few nice knives: native 5, delica, 940-1, pioneer, cadet. I used to carry my delica everyday until I bought a native 5. The native 5 kicked out the delica. Then shortly after (within a month) I bought the 940-1. Initially, I rotated between the native and the 940-1. I really like the native 5 a lot and would love to carry it more often, but the 940-1 is just so easy to carry. It takes all of my pocket time. I would say my 940-1 is as much a part of my pants as is the zipper. The 940-1 just has so much going for it. It is a very slim and slender handle. Plus with the handle being made from carbon fiber, it is very temperature neutral. (it doesn't get cold or hot, always just right unlike aluminum or steel) It is ultra light, and the blade steel is so maintenance free. It doesn't rust on me and the edge just keeps staying sharp. Its almost like maintenance free knife...almost; and with the open handle design, cleaning the lint out is as simple as blowing through it from time to time. All in all, I would say the 940-1 could make the short list of ideal edc blades. speaking of blades, it has one that is 3.4 inches so it is long enough to cut anything that comes my way, but not so long as to be cumbersome.

also, I just wanted to say that with my habbits and preferring to keep a sharp blade, I would sharpen my vg10 delica about every 2 weeks. I would sharpen the native 5 in s35vn about once a month. The s90v on the 940 is going over two months and is still up to my sharpness standards.

It does seem like a lovely knife, packing a decent sized S90V blade in a super lightweight package...and I do love the Axis lock. And carbon fiber. Mmmm...carbon fiber. It's certainly to my tastes. Problem is, that's a $350+ knife in my neck of the woods, so if I were to buy one, I'd have to ask myself if it's going to bring me $200+ of enjoyment and performance over the semi custom that's in my pocket right now.

It's as good as it gets for an EDC. Quality, weight, size, usability, beauty... All A plus plus.

Kwon Kwang,: Got mine for $215 brand new. There are ways to get around MAP, granted its harder for some to do so.

I picked one up here a few days ago and absolutely love it! I've had a couple of 940's over the years, but the CF/s90v version is perfection of an already great knife to begin with. I figured this thread needed a pic.

I had a 940-1 and it was stolen! The only positive that came of it is that I began to carry other knives. The 940-1 is a beautiful, yet simple knife. I found the S90V to be a great steel. After reading this thread, I'm going to cruise the exchange and pick one up. It's been far to long to not have that knife in the rotation.

By far my favorite and most carried knife. I picked it up at a local "larger store" for $249 and they had 20% off knives (and no tax in Oregon) so it was like $207.

(Next to my Emerson 620CF)

I see them on the exchange for around $200 or so, just might have to wait a bit till one pops up
