Ok so I have always wanted a 940 for years. I found a local store that has them and got one. I carried it for a week and went back and got the 940-1. These are some fantastic knives. I couldn't be happier. I have sebenza's, hinderes, Emerson's, spydercos , strider and these are right there in everyway. I love them!! Anyways I'm now looking to get a 710 to add to my small benchmade collection. The 940's are perfect work and EDC knives.

Forgot to add that there so pocket friendly and they have a lot of cutting edge for the size and it's even a tick longer cutting edge than my paramilitary 2!! In dress slacks I hardly even notice it in my pocket. My pm2 in dress pants is very noticeable so it's been a joy carrying these at work. Friday I carried both 940 and 940-1 just because I could. Lol

The 940 was my first real knife, a had a griptilian first but it was never really the one, it took me a bit longer to get my 940-1 but they are my two favorite folders by far.
I have no sebenza or hinderers or custom TI flippers.
All I know is for what I paid, I feel like I still got a deal to this day.
Even if it was MAP, they are more than worth the product, warranty, and CS.

Maybe one day when I get a sebbie or an XM ill change my mind.

Or not.

I have a Gold Class 940-121 and the sad thing is I never carry it for fear of scratching it up. It's a really nice little knife but was pretty pricey.

The 940-1, however, would be a different story. The CF handle won't show scratches, and I wear dress pants at work and cannot carry the bulk of my collection either. After reading this thread I think that'll be my next knife.

Sounds like a perfect EDC during the week while at work.

Got a regular 'ole 940 on Friday. I like everything about it aside from it being a bit more difficult to open than my 531.

940-121 is my absolute favorite EDC. I have 940-1 too but I prefer the balance and overall feel of 940-121 more.

More difficult to open?
Loosen the pivot the smallest amount, see if that helps.

It's smooth, it just takes a lot more pressure on my thumb to flick it out than the lighter 531. It's almost as if the stud is too close to the scale, or to the pivot. Maybe both? That's just my initial thought. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it in time.

I too have all of these brands that you mentioned, and I still rotate my 940. Carried it all week a couple weeks ago and I couldn't ever see myself without one.

I find myself having to share my 2 cents most each time a thread about a 940-1 is posted. I like the 940 a lot but the 940-1 is one of my favorite. I do carry it more often than any other knife due to carryability (word?). It’s also very eye pleasingly friendly.
The OP mentions the 710. I have the 710-1401 and it’s a great and beautiful knife which I give a pocket ride from time to time, but it is heavier and bulkier than the 940-1. So putting both knives side by side, the 940-1 is the pocket champion winner for me…so far.

Looks like there is problem with centering for 940-1, purchased 3 of them last week and every one is uncentered, kind of annoying. Otherwise gorgeous knife.

Love my 940.

It's the only knife I've never considered selling or trading. It just does everything right in my book.

My 940 is one of the few knives that even my kids won't let me get rid of. I love it, and it easily shares EDC rotation duties with my CRK's and custom knives. It's one of those rare knives that seems to get just about everything right (for me at least).

Need to get 940-1 before that well runs dry I think....

I've had it 4 days now, and I really dig it. The thing is tough, yet smooth and elegant. I think I prefer the grip/blade shape of my PM2, I think they'll split pocket time. I can say that this thing came way, way sharper than my PM2 did. I also seem to be getting better at opening it as I use it more.

Well I ordered a 710 Sunday. Couldn't help it. Lol. The 940 is so EDC perfect in every way for me. I been carrying the 940-1 more but either flavor is just awesome.

940-1 centering is definitely an issue, ive tried everything but loctite and it's still way to the left, so much so it rubs when opening. I've gotten it nearly to the point it won't touch but never centered.

According to BKC designer, it can be corrected at home. I have tried with Rift and 810-1401 and worked perfectly. The one with capsuled liner is a bit more difficult to correct.

You can always send it back to BKC for adjustment.

I've got 3 940's one all black and one green handle with a satin blade and a polished handle with a heavily used combo blade.......all in s30v. They are great knives......the pivots are kinda bi-polar but given the width or thickness of the knife it's not an issue. I wish more people could just hold one and see the difference between this and any 20 dollar knife which will plague their hand and be associated with the word sharp or tool makes me shutter.

I'd send it in to Benchmade for repair Lance,so you can really enjoy you're knife.
