Just picked up a bowie with what the maker said was a-6 toolsteel. He said that it had been cryo treated. Is this steel any good for a 10 inch blade bowie. Any input would be apreciated . thanks joe
A-6 is the toughest of the group to which A-2 is the most common. So that will do well for impact type use . It also has a lower austenitizing temperature [ 1550 F] than A-2. Should work fine .
