A 940-1 with a 943 blade?

All you need do is remove the pivot and remove the old blade and insert the new blade.

Is it really that easy? I didn’t want to have to disassemble the whole knife and worry about stripped screws and reassembly. I guess I’ll be voiding the warranty as well.

I was told over the phone that they would not do it but I sent my standard green scales 940 with a broken tip in and on the paper asks for a 943blade. Even bough I was told no I still got a 943 blade back on my old scales. Worth a try at least.

If you know how to sneak in the washers, yes, you can just remove the pivot and swap blades... at least that's what I did. Tip: Unscrew the pivot screw 80% and push on it to help move the nut out the other side. It also helps to hold the Axis lock back when replacing the blade and the washer... just don't cut yourself. :D

When replacing the blade on an Axis lock knife, I use some grease, like the stuff available from Chris Reeve Knives or Benchmade, to "glue" the washers to the blade, so you can install the blade and washers together as a unit. Works pretty well most of the time.
