Reaching for your knife that is always clipped in your pocket and it's not there:eek: I felt my stomach turn earlier today when I reached for my trusty CS AK and it wasn't there... I immediately began retracing my steps and remembered I left it in my cruiser:thumbup: Anyway I hate that panic like feeling.

Ive had that happen a bunch. I hate it. its just supposed to be there..... its always there. Luckily i have found it everytime. knock on wood :)

I've had this happen a lot at home, because I tend to "unload" everything out of my pockets, and while doing housechores I find I need a knife. I've been lucky enough to not actually lose a knife though. My knives aren't for primary self-defense (I carry OC spray on my belt for that), but it is definitely reassuring to feel my knife clipped to my pocket.

i unload everything as well. and i agree with all that you've said

I always unload my pockets when I come in the house too, but I usually put the knife back in even if I'm just gonna be around the house.

I've seen many a cop with kids show up at court appearances with empty holsters. It's almost always the night shift guys.

As bad as that feeling is, it's much worse when the knife costs upwards of $400. I didn't lose the knife, it was placed carelessly in a spot at home (front porch by a post).

Hi WVHILLS -

Yea - I know that feeling all to well!

A few weeks ago, I had taken my small sebenza 21 with inlays to work. I had an early meeting, so I had to get into work and get right to the meeting.

When I sat down, I felt for the knife, and it was not there!

That was a long hour - and as soon as I got out of that meeting I went right to my truck, and there it was, on the floorboard. Whew!

I also thought I had lost another one of my knives one time, and I found it clipped to the shoulder harness seat-belt in my truck.

That is a really odd feeling - glad your knife was in your cruiser!

best regards -

I hate that feeling more than all others. Its happened to me several times recently. Me and some friends were hanging out and I had my (Brand NEW) CRKT Apache II on me. We went into a music shop and I reached for my knife to cut a loose thread. Thank god it fell out in the car on the seat.
and more recently, Camping. I emptied my pockets in the camper and went outside and sat on a log by the fire to cook my food. I reached for my pocket to stab my food and my Benchmade Griptilian was gone...I panicked for about 45 minutes, letting my steak get cold trying to find it. It fell onto my sweatshirt from the counter.

I think the best way not to lose our knives is to make a paracord bead, or possible a lanyard if we know we'll be using our knives that day frequently.

I'm so happy I lost my first folder when I was first starting out and had not started spending much on knives. One day I reached into my pocket to find my rough rider barlow missing. I had sat down in the grass talking to some folks at work and it must have fell out. I searched high and low for it but never found it. Total loss: 6 bucks. It got me so paranoid that I have never carried a knife again without a clip or sheath. Never lost another one (knock on wood)
