A Badd Birthday Present!!

Randy, please tell us about that great knife! "Before" pix? Or description?
"Autopoint" tang stamp - was a mechanical pencil maker - as early as 1911!

Charlie this is the only before picture I have. Maybe Glenn will chime in here in a bit with some more info. I had sent Glenn an Imperial with the agreement that he do whatever he decided because let's face fact's nobody could argue with Glenn's creativity or eye for what's beautiful in a knife. He ended up supplying the Tip Top.

Thanks to both you and Glenn, Randy, and to everyone else who chimed in here!
The second 39 years weren't so bad! It's the next 39 that scare me a little!

:D

Don't worry Charlie, you'll slowly forget the first 39 even happened so look at it as you're gaining time haha.

Happy belated birthday!

Wow! I missed Charlie's birthday?
Happy birthday to you, Charlie!

Very kind gesture gents :) If you weren't such a generous guy yourself Charlie, there might be a basis here for a re-telling of Dickens' A Christmas Carol, featuring the ghost of Obadiah! :D

Whoa!! I guess Obadiah died without finishing his bucket list!!
Maybe we are doing it for him!!!
(Is that a door-knocker, Jack?? If so I'd love to find one!!)

Thanks for the Birthday wishes guys! It was a while back actually, but I appreciate the felicitations none the less!

I have indeed forgotten the first 39 or so, Jake!!
What's your name again??
:D

Questions still exist about that cool Glennbadd knife!
For instance, it introduces yet another Barlow size into the lexicon!!

Glenn/Randy, please enlighten us more!!

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I'm happy to be posting a little more. I've been terribly sick for the past 4 weeks. Haven't been able to do much more than sit in the recliner and feel lousy. Sadly, I missed all that time in the shop also.

Randy is so kind and generous, and had reached out to me to make something for Charlie. I had this project in mind for a while, but hadn't really started it. So it just seemed like a good fit. And who doesn't like some nice stag.

Here is the original knife. It's possibly from the 1940-1950 vintage, but that is a guess. Autopoint is a maker of mechanical pencils, but did market a lot of advertising knives back in the day. They are still in business today. There is some talk that the knives were made by Camillus.

I did make some new bolsters for the knife. Because of the size, I like to call it a mini-bar! I was quite pleased with the finished product, and I sure hope you enjoy it Charlie, and hope that it is a fitting birthday gift from Randy. I sure enjoyed working on it for you.

Glenn

That's quite a transformation. Well done Glenn. You just keep raising the bar for modified knives.

Sorry to hear you've been feeling sick Glenn, hope all's well now

Hope you have shaken off the last of that illness, Glenn!
You've done a monumental job on this Mini-Bar! A fitting prototype for a new category! Thanks for your efforts and collaboration with Randy!

Congrats on that fantastic stag "mini-bar", Charlie; I hope your birthday was filled with joy!
Raves, recognition, and props to Randy and Glenn for their generous and productive partnership!:cool:
Randy's generosity and Glenn's talents both seem boundless!:thumbup:
(Glenn, I hope the holidays bring you complete health; being "terribly sick" for the past 4 weeks sounds WAY less than ideal. :()
