Thanks for the kind words everyone. This Hood knife is one of the 5 knives made way back, this one is stamped 18 and has asymmetrical edge. Maybe someone more knowledable in Busse history like papathud can share more about this knife.

Thanks Alex. Many generous HOGS contibuted to this collection, not only by letting me have one or two blades from their own collections, but also by answering many emails, PM's, and pointing me to the right direction for some of these knives.
8 months ago, all I wanted is 1 FBM for camping, thats all. That went well...

Thanks Mark, I am happy to say that you contributed to that collection as well. :)

Raden,

This is not a Hood knife Variant, it is a Factory Stock Busse Combat Knife Company Limited Production knife that the production of was halted early on in the production process.

It is my understanding that Five were made and delivered and that Ron bought back all the others and that left this one alone out there for possible resale.

I have followed this knife for at least a decade, Monte is the 4th owner.

The First Time I saw this knife I was at a Gun Show(San Diego) as a Busse dealer with a couple Hood knife Variants on the table when a Fella walked up and asked about the Variants, I did not have a clue what he was talking about and he Drew this knife out of a sheath and laid it right next to the obvious variant and said "See?" and I did see and it was Good.

For those of you who do not already know Monte, deal with him with Confidence he is one of the "Good Guys" I have his number on speed dial, he is passionate about knives in general and Busse knives in particular, he has jumped in testing the water with Both feet and I gave him the Same Advice I gave Skunk when I sold him the beginnings of his(Skunk's) now Vast collection, Slow Down, learn more and pay attention, do not get in such a Hurry to buy, learn the Joy of the Hunt, and you know where that led to.

Ferrocerium striker.

.

When Andre showed me his variant, I think he said the serrations were supposed to be for scraping animal hides, but I could be wrong.

Andre, who had the Hood knife the last two times after the guy in San Diego?
