A balisong for a friend

The pattern was called Sharks Tooth, and it was made from 1075/15N20. I can't take credit for making the billet, but like you I really fell in love with the pattern. Pity I can't find any more of it.

Good question. I'm thinking of using mini corby bolts or something like that, which I just ordered from Jantz yesterday. In the meantime, I've got nails that were thinned down at the heads and pounded in with pin punches. Not the best interim solution, but good enough to test the action. As an aside, I'm not pleased with the action. The stop pin hole at the bottom is slightly offset to one side, so the blade locks at a slight angle when the knife is opened. Another problem is that the top of the blade is too large, so it pokes out a bit when the handles are in the closed position, though the alignment is perfect in the closed position.

Too late to address either problem with this blade... although I've been thinking I might try to make one of the corby bolts a bit "eccentric" in order to address the alignment issue. Truthfully, though, I'm thinking of writing this one off as a learning exercise, and giving my friend the second balisong (the one with the chevrons I'm making from scratch in the other thread). I wouldn't mind hanging on to this one as a lesson learned. But if My friend wants it, warts and all, I'll let him have it.
