A batch of knives from files

Very nice. :thumbup: I too have a certain fondness for file-knives, probably because the first knife I was confident enough to sell was made from a file.

I really like the fact that each of your knives is a little different in various ways. You have a nice variety going on, and I bet each one will find a happy home. Keep up the good work!

I forgot to mention that All my knives are made from Nicholson files that have been tempered to approx 58rc.Everyone who owns one LOVES them.

I,ve been putting premium wood handles some of which are exhibition grade along with a lot of work to make the wood look nice. I think it makes a nice contrast against the rugged look of the file blades.

Those look cool Fog! I have a few Nicholson files in a pile that I hope to get around to one day. Did you fully anneal them first, or did you just temper them back from their file hardness?

Thank,s PJ and Dixie. I did NOT fully anneal them I tempered them back in my oven. I also hollow grind the handle portion of file to lighten and balance the knife.

I spend a LOT of time making the handle,s comfy, as i,ve found that i knife that doesn,t feel good in my hand doesn,t get used much.

I get most of my files from pawnshops. I need to find some new shops/source,s tho as i,ve bought out most of the one,s close to me.
