A beautiful evening

It's about 75 degrees and no wind on my patio and just sitting out there with all my knives and hoppes and hooflex. What a relaxing, enjoyable evening oiling up the handles and polishing blades. The cat came over to check on things, but decided it looked dangerous so just sat on one of the end tables instead and watched with typical cat curiosity. Does life get any better? I submit that it cannot. ;)

Just settling in with a bottle of wine now. And a little Josh Groban to make it a truly wonderful eveniing. :)

It's a wonderful realm we're in.

Today I had a bit of a cold so I slept in. When I got up it was a beautiful sunny day. I skipped my usual exercises and run, just to give my body some extra resources to combat the sniffles. But I did go out to the backyard. The lilacs are just starting to bloom and hints of their fragrance are in the air. I tied my friend Billy to a tree and did a couple of tai chi forms. One with relaxation to get the "chi" moving, and one with extreme tension for my body. Didn't make it all the way through the second one.

This world has its horrors, and many of us have seen them. But it also has its beauties.

Thanks for reminding us, Mamav.

A combo of snow and rain is traveling nearly horizontally across my yard. The wind must be up to 50 in gusts.

Currently 76, with a high of 82 predicted. Fortunately the hammock is in the shade now that the pecan trees have leafed out, so it stays nice and cool

I've revised my wind estimate to be over 60 mph.

Must be lizards out in your back yard, Berkley.

<sigh> This the bad part of working in such a seasonal business. I'm stuck in the office 7 days a week. I can see the beautiful sunny day through the glass. i can almost smell the grass as I hear the little robins chirp and watch them bob purched on the air conditioning unit outside my office window. My mind begins to wander and recollect all of those summer days spent out doing a "man's job" building, fixing, and servicing. Now all but memories as i crunch numbers and answer phones. It's a real downer when it feels like the earth is rejoicing in your 70 hour a week confinement;) I love my job, but i miss the sun and very pulse of nature that i took for granted for so many summers. How i long to do one day's work where i come home with dirt under my nails and my boots full of mud.
One day.

Nope, but SWMBO has staked out the hammock and is reading my copy of The Snow Leopard about trekking to a Buddhist ghompa in northwestern Nepal, so I have a good excuse to stay inside at the computer, waiting for UBDOTD's ;)

As I sit at my desk, and look out the window, the cherry blossoms are falling like snow. Each breath of wind brings down a new flurry.

Great book!

Spring here, too. Sunny, and almost warm outside. Actually a perfect temperature - long or short sleves as desired. Blue skies and sun. Actually, like nearly every day back west....

OK Gin, And around 100 miles north, after a Forest "road" that was 4x4 only (an hour and a half to go 15 miles), we hit freezing sleet and snow at Sycamore Canyon with the temp in the 30s. We decided there would be better nights ahead to be camping, after a brief hike into the canyon. Did see five elk and a dozen or so mule deer, but never even unsheathed the 17" Siru on my pack. On the way out picked up mud like a magnet. Heaven forbid what the Jeep looks like right now.:D

This afternoon my daughter decided she wanted to hit a few balls.
Open space at the park
A couple of handball racquets
A couple of tennis balls
I lob them to her as hard and far as I can
& she tries to hit them back.
I lets her do the running.
She's a bright kid,
but hasn't noticed yet that dad always chooses the upwind side.
especially when it makes the ball into it
drop backwards from the top of the arc.
:D

And once again we have the beginning of, "Old age and treachery always overcomes youth and skill." a sure sign of advancing age.:D  :D :p ;)

I guess there's a reason they call this the valley of the sun?? I'll be heading up your way this summer, I'm sure, to escape the scorching heat......but you know how it is. Enjoy what you have when you have it. Life is always changing. And elk.....yummmmmmm. Wonder if i could learn to hunt??
