A beneifit of owning a custom knife:

You're a good man, Charlie Mike. I'm gonna order something from you one of these days. Doing any double grinds?

I do 1 or 2 year. That might change once I get my 2x72 set up. I'm still freehand unsupported on a 1/3hp 1x42.

Why did I sell them right away? It's hard to say, really. What you specify on paper doesn't automatically mean that it feels good in the hand. I specified the blade design, blade steel, titanium slabs. blade thickness and length, type of grind, overall closed length, etc. It SHOULD have been PERFECT.
The maker is a good guy, does great work, communicates very well, and has shown some very nice folders on the Custom section. I REALLY wanted to love these knives, but just didn't feel good in my hand. The "feel" is totally subjective, and just does not translate well (for me) from paper to steel.
What DOES work for me is the following... I bought a Brad Southard AVO; carried it for a long time...more than a year, sent it to REK to slim the blade and do some extra magic on the scales. It was wonderful, sliced like a maniac and was beautifully 3D sculpted...and I carried it solely for another year. The stock AVO is about a 90 in my hand, and Josh at REK made it just about 100. And then, I sold it. There are so many nice folders out there, and so little time.
I have carried my Zaan and my large Classic Sebbie since then...several months. I'm always "looking" but it's getting harder and harder to find something I like. I did buy the ZT 0095BLK for the thin slicing blade in S90V and thought it might be perfect. I had intended to send it to Josh also for some scale-sculpting and scale shaving and shortening, but was not very respectful of the slow and "indecisive" flipping action...it kind of sucked. So again, I sold it.
But yes, a nice slim blade in s90V...very similar to the ZT0095, sounds like a winner.
As you guys know...the game goes on. The Grail is an elusive beast, to be sure.

That dagger looks sweet :)

Thanks man! Here's the finished product after I wrapped it with some leather cord:

While I like the aesthetics of the previous piece, I prefer the regrind for functionality. Cool knife.

(Or if you have two knives, cool knives.)

Just finished this one for a buddy in my 12 step group... Edge out Pikal.

Dylan Farnham. His company is called Sage Blades. Look him up. He's not a paying member. (He should be)

-In Response to LX. I'm using the forum on a friend's xbox (Cos I'm homeless, etc.) Replying is hard.

They are indeed two different knives. The Left is a PKM by Colin Despins (aka Max Venom) that I had reshaped on a waterjet. Fits perfectly. (I'm actually in the process of discussing Razor's Edge [R.E. Knives on the forum}) do some work to it. The right, is the Dylan Farnham peice, that I designed after the modified PKM. Its perfect. That is the knife that this thread was made about.

Nice peice, the blade is just facing the wrong way.

I Joke, I joke.

Really want to design a fast Bowie with you, man. I'll call this week. We're talking 9+ of sliiiick blade, ripe for cutting and pericing.

9"+... Yikes, that will need to wait until my 2x72 is running. I'd also need to send out for HT since my oven only has a 12" depth.
